Has anyone figured out how to trigger the program to re-index your audio files? I decided to remove some files manually and they still exist in the list in the program even though the original files have been deleted. This seems to be a minor issue.

I also don’t see any apparent place where it’s storing the database file that contains oall the songs indexed. Any ideas?

I think it’s linked via SonicStage.  Like Vaio Media.
I’m also looking around how to edit names as it looks up for the Album names of a song that is grouped by that category, I want just the song names.  :x

But like you said it’s a minor issue.
The overall usage and the part that looks nice
overshadow the Song Lists bug..  :wink:

Oh crazy! I just figured it out. It’s tied to Windows Media Player and not SonicStage. A quick Library “refresh” of WMP solved my problem. I also noticed that whenever I would remove/add media from WMP then it would be reflected by LifeFlow.

If Sony wants to tie their software to WMP instead of SonicStage then I have no complaints.  :wink:

Oooh you were right.. Cool now all I have to do is edit my music lists in WMP. 

I have downloaded and installed both the jap and english version of LifeFlow, however the english version does not work. The Jap one worked fine, though I couldn’t understand it. I uninstalled the jap and then installed the english one and now I get an error when I try to launch it. I cant even tell what the error is since its in block characters instead of text. Anyone else have this problem at all?

Ye same thing happened to me. After uninstalling the JP version, the En will not launch. I think something gets mixed up in the registry. Try to do System Restore. It should help if you go back to a day before you installed JP version.

Stan’s advice should do the trick. However, should you experience further issues, you may want to delete LifeFLOW’s registry entry accordingly:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Corporation\LifeFLOW

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Corporation\LifeFLOW Visualizer

OK.. this is really freakin tiring now.. i had the same problem as stated above with the sofware…had the jap version installed first, deleted it.. and then installed the eng version.. and it downloads fine.. but then u get that window with the cross.. meaning the problem cannot run..
I then installed a english version on my other laptop that didnt have the jap version.. everything went ok.. programm loaded fine.. yippeeee right. NO.. how the hell do u import songs on play songs on lifeflow.. It doesnt recognize any discs i put it.. (all are burned MP3)..i can play them through sonic stage and WMP but the only thing ive played thru lifeflow so far is the beethoven symphony.. which totally ricks.. but still id like to eventually move to genre from this century. Please anyone.. help.. tell me.. what the F to do.. cause im aboout to become a victim of alopecia.. if i dont get thsi right.

One of the problems with installing the Japanese version first and then the English version is that the Japanese installation may leave some files leftover even after you uninstall it.

As someone mentioned before…what you should have done is do a system backup before installing any software you know nothing about. That’s always safe so you can do a System Restore to clean up your registry.

Anyways, back to the solution. I had the same problem on one of my systems as well that was solved by doing the following:

1. Uninstalling whatever version you currently have
2. Doing a search for LifeFLOW in the registry and deleting references (be smart about this). Ishii has the ones you want to look for up above.
3. Deleting all the hidden files littered around my system.

Here’s where I looked…

C:\Program Files\Sony\LifeFLOW
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sony Corporation\LifeFLOW
C:\Documents and Settings\{Your User Account}\Application Data\Sony Corporation\LifeFLOW

Deleting those directories before reinstalling should solve your problems. I think in most cases some of these files (especially the XML files) contained the different region settings causing the English install to go nuts.

Once you’ve cleaned all this stuff out reinstall the English version and it should be ok.

LifeFLOW doesn’t import music. It merely plays music you already have on your system that’s registered with Windows Media Player. You’ll find that if your music is organized properly with WMP (with correct Album Artist fields set) then it works like a charm. Also, it should play regular audio CDs just fine from the interface. I don’t believe it will play MP3 CDs. You’ll have to copy those to your system and let WMP manage them.

I have the same problem on one of my systems that has my largest collection of MP3s on it. I suspect part of the problem is the library size and part of it is the fact that the library isn’t managed by WMP but rather than iTunes. I’m investigating this more with another system and will have more on this.

It may have something to do with having a large collection of music on the system and if your music is properly organized by Windows Media Player. I have the same problem on one of my systems and am investigating it…

I wish I had nicer things to say about LifeFLOW.

While it is visually a very elegant application (the music window looks especially good), certain implementations leave a lot to be desired.

The RSS function is great, though I wish there was an option to disble pictures in RSS feeds. For those feeds that start with pictures, half the reading space is taken up by the picture, leaving very little space for the accompanying text.

Also, LifeFLOW becomes very, very slow if you have a large music library, or if you point to a folder with a large number of pictures for the slideshow function.

I have a music library with approximately 1,500 tracks. LifeFLOW takes about 5 minutes before anything appears in the Music sub window. After that, changing between any of the viewing choices (Artist, album, genre, etc) takes forever. If it works at all; half the time, Macromedia Flash Player complains about how ‘a script is slowing down the system’, else LifeFLOW crashes.

LifeFLOW doesn’t do data management very well. For the slideshow function, I specified a folder with 800 pictures or so, and LifeFLOW stupidly tries to cache every one of them, chewing away 1.75GB of my hard disk space. For those of you wondering how come your hard disk space has suddenly taken a plunge, check the following folder and clear everything in it:

C:\Documents and Settings\Your username\Application Data\Sony Corporation\LifeFLOW\Modules\Photo\Cache\

I’m sticking to VAIO Zone for now.
