Ye, I do not see what the big hype is all about this Origami…. Sony did it a long time ago with U series as well as OQO.

My main concern with these devices is battery life. You have to have at least a full day of battery life for these things to be remotely useful. We’re talking 10-12 hours of real battery life where you don’t have to charge them multiple times a day. Perhaps Windows Vista Origami will give the devices better power abilities but there’s a bunch of other stuff they need to work on.

The other concern is performance. With such a device “hovering” between full-sized notebook/tablet and PDA it has to have quick access to your information. Solo core stuff should be fine but it’s still got to have a reasonable amount of kick.

Ideally, these things should have OLED touchscreens for great visibility inside or outside and low power requirements. Additionally, these things should have those hybrid hard disks that have flash ram in them. This would allow for things such as instant-on and better overall performance.

Man, I cannot believe jkOntheRun won Sony U71! This guy is pretty lucky. At first, some one simply donated him Sony U750P and he started a nice blog about its every day use, etc. Than he sold it and ended up getting it again!
The clue was pretty easy too to win it….....
Anyways, this origami is like me saying: “Hey guys I got a pen! And it can write in different colors!”... everybody says “Wow! I want one too!” 

yep, yawn…i saw alot of stuff on the internet about how MS was seeming to be trying to generate the hype that Apple generates over things like ipod video releases etc…but, as a MS lover and an Apple hater, I still have to say MS will have to do better than THIS to get me excited about anything…

Vista is a MUCH bigger deal than this little toy…personally, I think it’s too big to really be portable and too underpowered to be useful…it’s the WORST of both worlds…that coupled w/ most likely lousy battery life and I’m waiting for the next device cycle w/ Vista.

Personally…I’m waiting for somebody to release something a bit bigger than my smartphone that can do more but give me similar battery life…days vs hours…

Otherwise, I’m tired of the hype…glad it’s over.

I’m finding that w/ all the core duo issues w/ the USB power drain and now this junk, that I’m really happy w/ my S270 running NHC, I get nearly 4 hours w/ the standard battery, would probably get 6 w/ the extended…take that origami…and I can whip out my smartphone and handle all the mundain day to day stuff…

MS is konda pushing the S which is like the media centre edition IMHO but customized for one the road use. If they come in at $600 it’s not a bad little machine.
