Hi,

I have enjoyed the posts on the forum. I,like pobably everyone else, have narrowed down my next laptop purchase to the Sony TR3 or Fujitsu p5020d. I’m looking to pull the trigger in a week or two.

Can you calibrate the monitors on these laptops with a typical colorvision spyder or other like program and puck?

I am a photographer and am looking for the best screen image that I can adjust for color balance, contrast, gamma, etc.

Any help would be appreciated. I am really sold on all features of the p5020d (even though I can’t seem to find one to compare in person in Colorado) and am drawn to the tr3 as a possibility for the nice(r) screen (that I have seen and think is gorgeous) and the very nice outer shell design.

Wish I could actually see a p5020d in person for a real comparison.

They really need to delete the flip cam.  Just ne more thing to break.

LCDs aren’t great at representing true colors. There’s no way for example to get a true black from an LCD unless you turn it off. There is a primitive color control panel in the Intel driver properties, but I doubt it’s enough for your professional needs:

What happens when you click under color from “ALL” to red, blue, or green?

Does the adjustment area change and then do you see actual quantities of adjustment per color?

This does appear to give more calibration control than I thought might be available.

Thanks for your input.  I’ll look forward to any other screenshots you can post on the RGB individual selections.

Clicking on an individual color will just adjust the same properties for that color only instead of all at the same time. The adjustment area stays the same interms of the options available. I’m willing to bet that the computer you’re on now has the same sort of functionality. Assuming you’re on a PC, just right-click on the desktop, select properties and click around looking in all of the “Advanced” tabs and buttons. They’re all different, but most modern display drivers have this sort of thing built in.

I see what you mean except that on the CRT Desktop monitors, you adjust all these levels on the monitor, not the computer.

Just like shifting the picture to the left or widening the display, the color controls and contrast, gamma, etc.  is accessed directly through the monitor and does not include the computer at all.

So I am trying to pin down, Is there a monitor adjustment of the same degree on the TR3.

Sounds like it is somewhat different and not quite as precise.
