Is anyone out there keeping up with the build releases of Vista. I know some guys here were testing/examining. I haven’t done anything with it since Longhorn

No, but I plan to install it again in March…I’m going to some Vista thing from Microsoft where they are supposed to show it to us, plus Office 12 (?) and give us lunch…truth is i’m going for the free food
Can a BETA version be downloaded from somewhere, if I am not an MSDN subscriber?
For testing, i use the IE7, it seems to install some new fonts (cleartype maybe) and the tabbed browsing is awesome, just like Firefox does it. I dont like however the security features of it. I connect often to our Office OWA, and it has HTTPS with a certificate that is published by us, and not some 3rd party verified publisher, so it always try to block be from accessing it.

I’m pretty sure a public beta hasn’t been released yet. If I’m not mistaken, MS doesn’t usually release beta OSs to the general public.

Hi
Yes, I had that feeling. So only for MSDN members it is available?

I know MSDN members have access to it, not sure who else.

Hi
Thanks. If someone will get a hold of it, and not mind sharing it, please let me know. I have absolute no access to MSDN since two years, and miss testing…
I am not big on bittorrent, besides I am an system admin, and I constantly discouraging our users from using it to save bandwidth. On the other hand of course, I would really like to get the thing….
Do you have more on how to get it even if I have to learn bittorrent a little?
very smooth with new graphics icon etc.. but also very heavy for my TR2A with 1 gb but i run it via a vmmachine
i believe that it’s more of a graphical upgrade and changing of various procedures. it got me confused a lot of times to do some straighforward taks that i got used with win2k and winxp.
At least i whould expect the WIN.FS system installed to see .
let’s hope it will not be a wast of time upgrade when it comes out
AA… try the torrents to download the bootable dvd of this version. tehre many out there
how well is vista likely to run on a tr5 with 1gb ram? I’ve looked at the basic system requirements page on the microsoft site but i’m not sure how the graphics stuff relates to the tr5 :?
Well it certianly is going to be requirements heavy from the reading i’ve done. Once again following Apple they’re trying to replicate a lot of the look and feel of OSX. But from all my reading there is a bit more to it than graphics. But not a lot you can see, stuff going on in the background of the OS. They kind of always want you to be connected too so it might not be so good for laptops; i’m thinking a lot of the cool new stuff won’t work with an always on connection.
hey guys,
i used longhorn ver.5048 about a year ago, i managed to get it off emule at the time i had 256mb of ram and it still ran rather smoother than i expected, i loved the lil gadgets that they include like when you wave over a photo it would maximize it, its the small things that count! plus it looks real swish with our TR now i have 1x 1024mb kingston pc2700 micro + std sony 256mb pc2700, yes thats over 1 gig of ram working on my tr! go to ebay, search worldwide, you can pick up a 1 gig module for £110.00 BARGAIN
