[quote author=“fatigueofheart”]hey guys, i did the thing to see the recovery partition and followed it exactly from this thread http://www.siliconpopculture.com/sonytr/viewtopic.php?t=1306&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight;=. and it was successful. After i was done, i tried to undo it by following steps 1-9 but on step 10 i changed it back to unknown type. Then i reenable the partseal program. Now i can’t boot into windows! ! i get this error
“windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<windows root>\system32\hal.dll
Please re-install a copy of the file above.”
what do i do now? i don’t have any recovery disks. Should i try to get a copy of xp pro and try to repair it? Please respond as i’m very nervous and frustrated right now!
You can get a stamped set of recovery discs here . Lesson of the day: don’t screw around in a system’s partitions unless you absolutely understand what you are doing and have the proper tools to fix any mistakes you may make.
Alternately, if you have a friend with an XP cd, you might try one of these two options. Though since you got into this mess maybe fiddling around in recovery console might not be such a good idea either.
