The harddrive on my TR2AP has gone bad, according to the computer support people at my office. They are not authorized to work on Sony computers, so I’m on my own to get it fixed. How much would it cost for a new harddrive (and have it installed)? I’m trying to decide if it’s worth it to have it fixed or not.

You can acquire a MK6006GAH from the range of $160-220 from eBay; and it’s usually listed under iPod accessories. As for installation, it’s relatively easy - check out this thread for “step-by-step pictorial-instructions.” Good luck.

Yes, it’s worth fixing…unless you want to move to something newer. If you don’t want to install it yourself, I think you’re looking at another $100-150 for the install from a certified installer. I would call Sony themselves and see how much they want to swap a hard drive.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just called Sony and the grand total would be about $296.

That’s honestly not too bad. I would also inquire if the part/repair includes a warranty of sorts of it dies again.
