Is it wise to upgrade the intel graphics driver (14.0) if everything is working fine?  I have seen where the upgrade has disabled the zoom button and created a host of other issues.  Also, has anyone installed DirectX 8 or 9 with any noticable improvement?

Usually, there’s no good reason to upgrade to a new driver unless it fixes some issue you’re having or offers a general performance increase. In the case of 14.0 and the TR, there’s no performance benefit although a few select game titles may work better. Since it introduces problems then you may want to avoid the upgrade.

Windows XP has DirectX 8.1 already built-in and DirectX 9 is a Windows Update. There’s no issue of having Direct X installed. There’s no improvement in the DirectX versions for the TR since the TR barely has DirectX 8 hardware features (more like DirectX 7).
