Well, after 1.5 years the toshiba drive in the trusty TR3 crapped out, just like the last one that lasted exactally 1.5 years. I started getting high cpu temps (probally a faulty fan) and then after using the TR3 outdoors on a cool night, no operating system found! I have my pc dealer pal here in KTM getting a new drive in Singapore next week, so now I am down to using my new homemade desktop as a primary, which still has a few bugs left to work out.
Can I ask for some desktop support here while waiting for my TR to come home again?
The big problem the desktop has is that it can’t download a file…well, sometimes it does and sometimes it does not. But my wifes laptop sitting on the same router has no problem downloading the same file at the same time. Most of the time downloads get to 96 or 98% and then just timeout. I have tried Opera, IE, and MassDownloader with all the same results. I know it’s the box and not the network, or something in this new box that does not like the network.
I have tried:
Disabling Norton Internet Security 2006
Deleting the NIC drivers and re-installing
Upgrading the NIC drivers for the network card
Web pages are fine. Downloads are coming in at 6+Kbs (sometimes I get as high as 12 on this backwater broadband). All looks well but the darn files won’t finish!!!! :shock:
I have scanned for virus. But this is a brand new box. arg. Please help me. I miss my TR…. :cry:
