My motion eye on TR3ap2 was still working fine last nite but it turn out to be not working at all this morning. When i try to use the motion eye, it just shows nothing. I wonder is the CCD broken or any other solution on this. If the CCD is broken, where can i buy a replacement part?

I really hope that you guys are kind on helping me to solvethis question…........

Does it show absolutely nothing, or some sort of static fuzz? If the latter - when you flip the camera over the other way, does the static fuzz also turn upside down (it sounds like a bit of an odd thing to ask, but you can usually see it switching over)?

If so, it’s probably the CCD broken. If it’s completely black, I think I might try reinstalling the drivers first (from c:\drivers).

I believe it’s a hardware issue, even if it shows nothing at all. I’ve tried reinstalling the drivers with no luck. My motion eye worked fine for two years before dying a couple of months ago.

OK, I was just guessing. Mine disappeared a few times (just vanished from Explorer, and any apps that were expecting to see a video camera) but that was fixed by a driver reinstall and a reboot. When it finally died a couple of months ago, it filled up with static noise rather than just going black.

thanks for the reply. I think my webcam problem is due to the hardware probelm. The screen doesnt work in any program. It show the black bacjground with some noise strip running around. I hope that reinstalling the driver can help to solve this problem too. But i dont know where i can get the driver. any hints to get that driver?

I’m sorry to say this, but if you see noise, it’s pretty much definitely a hardware issue. What you could do is read the thread at http://www.siliconpopculture.com/sonytr/viewtopic.php?t=5260 and buy the replacement parts - that’s what I’ve done. I can’t vouch for whether it works or not, because right now the parts are in the US and I’m in the UK.
