From the datasheet of UGPZ6 Ishii posted:

USB interface is compliant with Universal Serial Bus Specification 1.1 & 2.0 and supports 12 Mbps “Full Speed”

So this is not the issue.

Here is better datasheets from other (and older) module from ALPS:

The pinout is mentioned, but this modules uses the UART and not the USB port, so there are lots of “NC” pins that are used for the USB.

It would be of interest if the PID/VID is detected by the system (check with msinfo32.exe). If it is detected, then the USB and Power is probably okay.

Tonight I borrow one S270 from one of my friends.
UGPZ6 works on S270 without trouble.
The PID/VID of UGPZ6 on S270 is 044E&PID;_300C.
It is the same PID/VID.
However, I put UGPZ6 in SRX7S.
There won’t show up the message “UGX” and no any unidentifiable device in device manager, either.
Does anyone have a good suggestion?

I just want you guys to know that I have another variant of the Bluetooth Stack for Sony by Toshiba. The version I have uploaded within this thread is a Korean or Asia-Pacific variant (not sure if this has anything to do with compatibility issue experienced by some of you guys’ US TR series).

The Bluetooth Stack for Sony by Toshiba found at Sony USA’s support site for the TX and BX series is about 155mb in file size. I will include a download link just as I did for the thread mentioned above shortly. Stay tuned.

Update: I am uploading both variant of the Bluetooth Stack for Sony by Toshiba to gr00vy0ne’s ftp. Once the upload process is complete, gr00vy0ne will provide instructions to those who needs it.

I’m still playing with my new unit right now. The new Bluetooth software takes a little to get used to compared to older unit and Microsoft’s software.

One thing I’ve noticed so far is that it creates a lot of COM ports. One major problem i’m having so far is that I can’t get my Belkin Bluetooth GPS unit to work with my system. It automatically sets it to COM41 which a program like Microsoft Street & Trips can’t see. Street & Trips only seems to see COM3-COM9. So, this sucks for now until I can find some sort of fix.

I do have the new 2.0 module but I’m testing it in a VAIO S Series right now first. If it works in this system then it should definitely work in the TR series. Of course, I’ll verify that for sure once I’m done with my testing with the S series.

I was reading the TX series service manual once more and thought you guys did like to know that the TX series with BT module employs a BT film antenna instead of a coaxial cable (with U.F.L. connector) used in our TR series. I wonder if this particular component would make a difference with those that could not install the new BT module successfully with the TR series.

My new S580, I think has the BT 2.0. I trashed the sony/toshiba BT drivers and loaded the hacked Widcomm 5 BT driver. Works like a charm!

Good news that VAIO TR works wiht BT 2.0 module(UGPZ6) perfectly!!!

Solution method is a clean installation.

first : reinstall windows XP with sp2 ( wireless swithch off, without bluetooth program).

second : install the new Bluetooth Stack for Sony by Toshiba.

third :  the new Bluetooth Stack for Sony by Toshiba will prompt you to switch on the bt device, switch it on then.

I use my vaio bluetooth mouse(VGP-BMS30) now… it is very good~

In no way would another antenna be necessary.
The module will work even without antenna, although it would be useless as the range would only be about 0.1meter instead of 10 meters.

Maybee the 2.0 module will work without complete reinstallation if a widcomm 5 stack was used instead of the toshiba?
