Has anyone bought the new PCGA-UVC11A camera and disassembled it to see if it will retro inside the TR’s motion eye case? I will buy one and desolder it from the usb cable and attach the internal ribbon cable to it, it should work. Anyone looked into this?

Well It does fit if you dismantle it all the way down, the lens and board     (the one physically attached to the CCD)  fit inside the motion eye case. I was not successful in getting it to work, I had to slam my TR back together, to leave for a Business trip then started thinking maybe I did not have the ribbon cable fully inserted in the board connector. I reassembled the UVC11A camera so I could bring it with me. I will try again when I return! The only physical difference between the two, the TR motion eye ribbon cable wraps around the back of the lens 90 degrees to connect. The UVC11A one does not but it does have enough slack to connect to the board!!!

I was right, I did not have the CCD ribbon cable fully inserted, It works with the PCGA-UVC11A CCD. Now I have my motion eye back!!! The 11A CCD is allegedly a better product, for half the cost of the one from Sony or Computer parts Warehouse which would be the same as the original one that only lasted 1 plus years. :D

Hey thank you so much for your updates! I knew that the camera used in UVC11A, UVC11 and UVC10 webcams is the same hardware used in TR notebooks. Great news! No wonder my PCGA-UVC10 webcam died the same death as TR cam. Hopefully UVC11A will last long and save some $$ for those who wanna just buy the webcam and dismentle it for TR’s good.

Does anybody know how to disassemble the motion eye case?? There is a hole on the right part of it, but I ‘m afraid I’d break it…

I am going to replace my motion eye cover tonight, I broke it when doing my upgrade, I will post how to remove it after my memory is refreshed. That hole is to insert a small flat tip screw driver and slide the cover towards the hole if I remember right. Again I am going to be working on mine tonight! UJ-832D, new BT module and camera cover.

Insert a tiny flat tip screw driver in the hole and slide the cover towards the hole, it is tabbed and then pull it off away from the lens of the camera!

Motion Eye removal and disassembly;

1. Remove the six pads on the front side of the TR display ( 4 round, 2 rectangular) with a tiny flat tip screw driver.

2. Remove all six screws, they are all the same length.

3. Gently remove the display cover by running a finger nail between where the split line is from the bottom towards the top.

4. Gently start lifting it (screen cover) away from the display starting from the bottom, on mine there was some adhesive on the back side of the cover located on the right hand side, apply light pressure while pulling gently outward it will slowly release.

5. The motion eye assembly is held into the case with two screws, on mine the cable that connects the eye was very short, to remove it I first moved the display away from the cover (four more screws) to gain a little slack in the eye cable (it is taped to the top case in two places).

6. After removing the two eye screws rotate it out just enough to remove the cover by inserting a small flat tip screw driver in the hole and sliding the cover towards the hole to lift it away.

7. Remove two screws that hold it together.

8. You will need to remove the screw holding the board into the case and unplug the connector, remove the screw holding the camera in the case and remove the assembly.

9. When you diassemble the UV11 camera pay attetion to the orientation of the ribbon cable connection on the CCD (camera) it needs to be plugged in the same way on the TR motion eye board!

10. Reverse the process for reassembly and you have your motion eye back!!!
