SOLD For Logitech Dinovo plus V500, A Much Better combination In Every Aspect.
after I’ve returned the Bluetooth Mouse VGP-BMS30, I immediately bought the VGP-WMS50 double function 2.4Ghz wireless mouse (presenter + mouse)

Mini Review:
the Adapter is small and sexy, the mouse is double hand design and is shorter but “fatter” than BMS30, in my hand it feels better than BMS30, ergonomics wise I’d say it’s on par with Logi’s MX series. The optical sensor is 800dpi and is very responsive, strangely, I have to tune DOWN the cursor speed 2-3 steps to reach the same speed of BMS30, maybe it’s the v1.1 bluetooth on my machine hindered BMS30’s true performance. New low friction, non-stick PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) sole reduces strain on the hand and provides silky smooth movement, it’s the same material used on BMS30.
Now the insteresting part, the 8-way pressure sensitive scroll (joystick). In fact you only get 4 ways when using mouse mode, as picture below.
Mouse Mode:
In presenter mode, the joystick takes over the optical sensor and becomes a cursor, it offers 8-way movement (in use, it’s more than 8 ways) as of an ordinary presenter or a less sensitive “nipple” on IBM laptops. you can control powerpoint 2003 to perform basic slideshow functions including page up, page down, start or close sliceshow…etc, basics indeed.
Presenter Mode:
Switching between mouse mode and presenter mode is instanstly, just slide the mode switch on bottom of the mouse to appropriate position, it comes with an “off” position in the middle for turning mouse off.
Now the not so good part:
1. The “Back” button and “Forward” button are really what they are designed for—Back & Forward function when browsing, Page Up & Page Down in Presenter mode. big mistake on sony for not letting these bottons user customisable.
2. The joystick is made of rubber and feels VERY flimsy, what worse in my place is that SONY HK provides no warranty for this kind of accessory at all :x . it’s also WAT TOO sensitive in mouse mode, although the driver bundled allows you to tune the scrolling speed, but it’s still too sensitive, especially the “south” direction. In presenter mode, scrolling speed shares the same speed setting in mouse mode, so if you like me tuned down the scrolling speed in mouse mode, it turns out to be too slow in presenter mode.
Update: Sony Japan released a new version (v2.1) of its wireless presentation mouse driver, multilanguage, download:

Now all settings in each mode are saved seperately, once you switch the mode, the settings (including scrolling speed) switch simultaneously, kudos to sony.
In conclusion, I think it’s scrolling control take a bit of practice and get used to. Update: remember I said the joystick was too sensative? bad news is that after few hour playing with the nipple, it’s still very difficult to control.
For those have enjoyed the precision of scroll wheel, it’s a disaster with this mouse as the nature of joystick. A lot of tasks are difficult (IMPOSSIBLE) to perform, as you have ABSOLUTELY NO precision scrolling on this mouse.:
A Serious Flaw, reported to sony, and they are investigating: when the mouse is not moving for 5 sec or above, the joystick when to “sleep”, you have either to move the mouse or press the joystick to the direction you want and wait for 1 sec to let it “wake up”. This behaviour is annoyiny when for example: reading, browsing…etc, imagine you can’t control how many lines you are going to scroll, now you even have no idea when it’s gonna start to scroll… :x
Final thought: I hate it, the worst mouse I have ever used, and I have used a lot of wire or wireless, or bt mouses.
Sony=Sorry?
SONY’s Responds on the serious flaw: when the mouse is not moving for 5 sec or above, the joystick when to “sleep”, you have either to move the mouse or press the joystick to the direction you want and wait for 1 sec to let it “wake up”. This behaviour is annoyiny when for example: reading, browsing…etc, imagine you can’t control how many lines you are going to scroll, now you even have no idea when it’s gonna start to scroll… :x
After 3 days investigating, SONY Engineer phoned me this morning, below is their statement regarding the issue:
“All wireless will have delay when transfering data, it’s perfectly normal that the wireless mouse delays for 1-2 sec after 5 sec of not moving. It’s our new advanced power saving function.”
Power Saving every 5 sec? 2 sec stop responding for every 5 sec? Sorry, no sony mouse again…
