The unit was manufactured in Japan i bought through sony style UK.
The Fan is not bothering me in the slightest.
I find it very comfortable to type on.
DVD movies look stunning on the screen.

The only other quibble i would have is the cover for the dial up port and USB is a bit flimsey when open.

The eject button is operated through through the instant AV mode (linux based) so windows crashing on you does not effect getting your copy of Bourne Supremacy out of the drive.

Actually the eject button has nothing to do with AV instant mode, If windows crashes, the only way to take the dvd out of the drive is to press the little button on the side… Thats from my experience

Bought my T250 (added a 512 mb stick of RAM) in March and got tired of my better half grabbing it, so just bought the TX651 (added 1GB RAM).  I love ‘em both!!  I was nervous waiting for the TX, thinking I should just go with what I know, but I’m very happy with it and would buy it again (over getting another T).  Are their improvements?  Yeah - actually there are some tweaks to the setup (recovery mode gives you 4 options other than a complete install).  Wireless stack has more options for improved performance.  Less crap to uninstall and services to stop, too!  Fan noise?  Oh come ON!  That’s looking (hard) for flaws- it ain’t bad.  Picture is super, keyboard is fine.  Is it perfect?  Are any of them?  Both the T & TX are the most user friendly notebooks I’ve ever had - I’ll never buy a full size model again!

After I have now been using my TX for a week’s time, I must conclude that the slight sound from the fan from time to time, starting some time (about 10-15 minutes) after having starting up the TX, does not bother me at all. The screen is superb and the keyboard is quite OK, although the T’s keyboard could be said to have a better “touch”. But no big deal. The larger screen and lighter weight outwight this.

In retrospect, after having read all the posts about the fan noise of the TX, I must say that this rumble about the claimed “too noisy fan” is really difficult to understand.
