really futuristic design, silky smooth movement, 70 buck damage, purchased in HK. Updated: The inspiration comes from bamboo leaf. Detail below: http://vaio-online.sony.com/prod_info/accessory/vgp-bms30/index.html
Subjective Review: The mouse will go to sleep mode when not in use for a period or the paired device is off or standby. From ergonomics point of view, it is not on par with logitech’s MX series, mainly due to its double hands design and lack of rubber “grip” on sides, but still offers great handling. The new low friction, non-stick PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) sole reduces strain on the hand and provides silky smooth movement feeling. Optical sensor works perfectly on high resolutions, I’d say better than some brands with the same 800dpi that I’ve used. I am not a gamer, so can’t test its gaming performance. Button’s travel distance is good. Scroll uses “steping” method and is very responsive, middle button is a little sturdy to press. battery test under normal usage (3-4 hr/day) started on 2 fully charged Varta 2000mAh 15 min rechargeable AA batteries ... 4 days on
Final Update: I have returned the mouse, the mouse lags occationally when pairing with my TR5B’s v1.1 BT, even after a clean installation of xp (sp2). Other users have positive feedback with their BMS30 pairing TR series though.
After 3 days investigating, SONY Engineer phoned me this morning, below is their statement regarding the lag issue:
“All wireless will have delay when transfering data, it’s perfectly normal that the wireless mouse delays for 1-2 sec after 5 sec of not moving. It’s our new advanced power saving function.”
Power Saving every 5 sec? 2 sec stop responding for every 5 sec? Sorry, no sony mouse again…
it pairs with TR’s v1.1 bluetooth flawlessly, just i still prefer to be a little smaller, it feels bulkier than my other bt mouse, say omiz, bluetake 500
even the retired mx700, guess i am little picky here
I have been using bt mouse for years, it’s really convenient without adapter or cords to carry around.
I still wonder if pairing with v1.2 machine will give any advantage?
also I am a bit worried about battery life, from past experience, non of my bt mouse last 3 days continuous use (900mAH AAA rechargeable), and even mx700 (using AA rechargeable) barely stay on for 5 days.
See how this performs.
Also, this is a really hot item in HK as sony style online and sony stores are all out of stock, I got mine from a dealer shop, and it’s one of the last two
I will upgrade my TR5 shortly with the ALPS UGPZ6 BT 2.0+EDR compliant module; and I doubt we will see any significant advantage by pairing the BT mouse with the new BT module.
great! I am also tempting to upgrade, but I heard that TX has a special designed antenna (by Toshiba) for v2.0 module, still can’t confirm on v2.0’s usability on TRs.

keep us updated
Yes, indeed. The TX series incorporates a “film-type antenna.” I hope that the existing antenna cable will be sufficient for the TR series. Nonetheless, I will soon know.
[quote author=“luchao18”]also the only thing that I know from sony using v2.0 spec is the just released bt headset HBH-610.
I have this particular BT headset and this is one of the reasons why I decided to upgrade the TR5 with the new BT 2.0 module.
btw, I never feel that T series is the succesor of TR, but the new tx is just a killer, especially for its super thin LCD and v2.0 bt, not to mention the overall weight is 200g lesser

:D The TR series is truly one of a kind indeed. The TX series is sure looking good as well.
[quote author=“luchao18”]cool, how does the build-in noise cancelling DSP performs?
I am deciding between plantronic 640, bluespoon ax2 and the sony one
It’s quite efficient. So far, there are no discerning echos.
USA and Canada customers get 1 year warranty, but in HK we only get 7 days :x , as it belongs to “Accessories” category which SONY HK provides no warranty at all.
damn thats waht i want…i didnt know sony made one bluetooth mouse. I bought a kensignton. now I’m gonna return it and get the sony one. I didnt know it has a on/off switch didnt say it on the website. now its even better.
