right now i am using a sony clie nz90 as my electronical organizer
due to mobility, i am thinking of passing the nz90 to my younger brother,
now two pdas have raised my attention and the are offered to me for a very good price
and i know that we all are some kind of “sony whores”, so please make fair comments to ease my decision
I have a CLIE TH-55, just released and it is fantastic. I was going to go for an iPaq 4155, but the CLIE has double the screen resolution and the battery life is fantastic. I can use WiFi for 6 hours before the battery dies and play mp3s for over 20 hours with the screen off. The 4155 I tried for a week only lasted 2 1/2 hours with WiFi on. The extra screen resolution is definitely worth it, and the TH is $50 cheaper than the iPaq. It also has a digital camera built-in and can even record movie clips if you get the recorder app.
Really depends on what you are going to use it for. Are you a BT-browser? The BT-enabled UX50 has a widescreen display, which is great for browsing. On the other hand, it’s got an absolutely tiny screen. The iPaq is probably best if you use Outlook (full, not express) for email and contacts and need to edit Word or Excel docs or if you are just a multimedia freak. It’s got half the resolution of the Sonys, though. The TH55 is perfect if you are a WiFi fiend. I hear great things about the new Clie Organizer and I know from personal experience that Netfront 3.1 kicks the snot out of Netfront 3.0 in the NZ. On the other hand, it lacks built-in BT.
Myself, I’m in the market for a new phone, and I’ve been taking a long hard look at one of these suckers .
mainly i use the pda for agenda, contacts, notes ....
maybe i will do surfing the net, mails, etc via wlan or bluetooth/gprs
the p900 i really can recommend, its awesome, my partner is using it .... unfortunately it didnt convince me though, cause i like the phone and the pda separated, maybe the upcoming nokia communicater 9500 will change my mind
I’m impressed by the Communicator 9500’s specs, but not its form factor. That thing’s a fucking monster! After the N-Gage, 7600, 7700 and 3650 (come on, it’s an ugly, unweildy phone) I don’t know what’s happened to Nokia’s industrial design team. What happened to the people who designed the 8890 and 8910i? Maybe they jumped ship to SE?
I used to carry two devices in my pocket, i.e. a PDA and a phone. After I have given the smart phone a try, I am quite impressed with what it can do compared with having them separately…and it significantly reduces my pocket load too..
I’m now using the SE P900. I would highly recommend you to go for this if you would like to carry only ONE device in your pocket. It has a rather small form factor compared to other smart phone considering to have such a large touch screen, and it is stylish too! :D Well, it can essentially perform almost all tasks where a stand alone organiser does, and simply has all fucntions of a modern phone! Furthermore, I personally quite satisfy with the internet connection experiences that P900 offers through Bluetooth and GPRS (i.e. net surfing and email checking)...it simply saves me up the time/trouble of getting two devices connected when I need it. :D
The Sony DSC-T1 is just kick ass!! You just can’t imagine how slim and stylish is this camera with a whopping 5 Megapixel and Carl Zeiss lense! I do really really falling in love with this camear since the first day I bought it.
Well, performance wise, it does indeed offers a lot of automatic and manual functions….I do like those funny Multi-Burst functinon…hehe.. The start time and picture loading time is amazingly extremely FAST (compared with my old P5)! Picture quality is superb considering such small camera! I do like the total built quality of the camera too…it’s small but when you hold it in hand you don’t feel it like cheapy plastic toy BUT indeed feel its solidly built! Also, I love the 2.5” large screen too! :D Battery life is just superb…it lasts around 90 minutes! The high quality movie mode really smooth and look like a DV movie. I particularly like the exclusive Manifying Glass Mode which offers much much better close range cupture than the conventional Macro Mode. 8)
I am really satisfy with this camaera. I would personally recommend you go for the T1 instead of the P12. Why? Well, simple: it is newer, has larger screen, better lense - Carl Zeiss lense, battery last longer than P series, of course MORE stylish and compact! I have a 256MB MS Duo Pro and it really gives me lots of space to catch all high resolution pictures and movie I needed! :D
Both have Bluetooth and should be compatable with many of the BT-enabled GPS units on the market. eXpansys has a whole bunch of GPS units. IIRC, the PPC has better support than PalmOS does.
Then again, it’s not much my thing. I don’t even own a car.
I’ve researched GPS based stuff a lot recently and indeed, all the best software for GPS is PPC based. So if you want a kickass GPS system, you’ll need a PDA that runs Microsoft.
Mine should be arriving next week hopefully, I’ll let you know.
