I was offered a LF-X1 for $550 and I am wondering if the display will work with a LF-PK1.

If so, I will keep the screen, upgrade the base station with a LF-PK1 and sell the old one.

What are the differences between the LF-X1 and LF-X11 displays?

You can add LF-X1 monitor to the LF-PK1 and be able to access it on the go mode. There is a Home mode but it will only be able to access the newer base if you are on the same network. The original base for LF-X1 communicates to the monitor wirelessly (directly, with no network present).
The differences between the LF-X1 and X11:
1. X11 has new LF OS installed, improved NetAV setup.
2. X11 has Web Light browser, X1 has a web browser but not sure how different it is from Web Light
3. pretty much the same hardware functions (just different looks)
4. X1 Base is not supported by PSP LocationFree Player
5. LF-PC1 and LF-PC2 software work both with X1 and X11.
6. X1 Base has 2 AV inputs and 1 AV output, but LF-PK1 has only 2 AV inputs.
You can always access its manuals and study some more.

If I understand right,

I can use the monitor from the X1 to connect to the LF-PAK1, but it will work only directly, not via an established wireless network.

Could you please be more specific. I am really considering this. Thanks for the help so far. I hope I will be able to trick it, so I can use my psp the monitor from the X1 and the PAK1 at the same time.

The ultimate goal is:

Use my psp to watch TV
Watch TV via the internet
Use the monitor from the X1 to connect and watch tv. I don’t care about the browser that much.

I hope I am able to do this over my establsihed wireless.

is possible. You just need to remember that PSP will be able to talk only with the newer base (LF-PK1).
You can always use a splitter and connect two bases to your TV. So your LF-X1 can receive wirelessly video feed from its native original base, or you can bind the X1 monitor to the PK1 Base and use it on your network or through the Internet (on-the-go mode).
