Being annoyed that the usual creative types haven’t made any good laptop-specific My Computer icons, I made my own TR icon . Happily, it doesn’t look like utter shit.  :D

How to use, if you so desire:
1. Right-click on this link and select “save as…”
2. Save in a folder you will remember, preferably not on the desktop.
3. Right-click on the desktop and select “Properties”, click on the “Desktop” tab, click “Customize Desktop”.
4. Click on the My Computer icon and click “change icon…”
5. Click “Browse…” and find the icon file you saved.
6. Hit “OK” about 4 times and you should be all set.

Just a warning, this file only has the 256-color versions of the icon in 48x48, 32x32 and 16x16.

It’s MiX by KoL. Extract the .zip file into your C:\windows\Resources\ folder. In order to use the theme, you will need to install the UXTheme Multi-Patcher first.

That’s Excellent Drachen! But now you’ve opened the floodgates…we’ll need to create a whole suite of matching icons! 

Actually, I have a few myself that I will post once I get a nice enough set done. Thanks for posting though…I like it!

Please post. I love new icon sets. I’m currently using iYazoo on my TR and Snow.E2 (shell32.dll here ) on my desktop.

how did you get that taskbar on the top of your desktop?  it seems very OSXish.  by any chance does it function like it too?

AFter you down load the mix…put it in windows/resources….apply patch etc….
how do you actually apply the theme?

Double-click the MiX.msstyles file and the Display properties dialog should appear with MiX listed in the drop down list.  Just select OK.

Just wondering but is there much point in running a dock and also using the Quick Launch? It just seems to have have 2 copies of a lot of programs in both the dock and quick launch. Surely better to turn one off and use the other solely?

Alexicek: Just right-click on the desktop and hit the Appearance tab. MiX should be on the list. If not, the patcher didn’t work and you should try running it in safe mode.

Oops, missed the question first time through. It’s actually Y’z Dock. You’ll have to do a little googling to find it though, since Apple’s not too happy about its existance.

How did you personnalize your sidebar?  When I go into the appearance option in the program, there is nothing in there like yours.  For example, your perfomance panel is nothing like the ones I have.

That’s SmartBar XP , not Desktop Sidebar . I think DS is better, but I use SBXP because on the TR I like the total packets in/out counter visible all the time. I’m on GPRS quite a bit on my TR, so I like being able to see whether it’s my connection that’s having problems or the remote website…
