Looks like a very neat camera! The 3 inch LCD rocks on that thing. Touch-screen is good to have, as long as you use a stylus of some sort, otherwise finger smudges will be all over it (my Sony Network Camcorder has a stylus).
I was thinking just yesterday: I wonder when Sony is gonna pump out a new arrow of CyberShot cameras? And here is one of them. So far: T5, R1, M2, N1.

In German, it does indeed state that the stylus is included. However, it claims that the edited pics can only be saved in VGA quality. But it is neat to have a basic paint app in there, even though I would never use it, myself.
Looking a bit closer at the pics from your link, it looks like the flash may indeed be the same design as the T series… It would really be a pity!
Very cool, but I will need to see this in person before purchasing it…there are too many variables in my opinion that could cause this to be a terrible release…its very much a first attempt at a new kind of product.
[quote author=“TruthSeeker”]What reservations do you have, Erik?
Well, since nearly everything is controlled via the touchscreen…if the screen seems fragile…that could be a huge weakness. Now, factor in daylight kills LCDs…how will this be used outside?
Thats just a few of the things that I can see kill this device.
Battery life?
Time to turn on (the T7 and 1 have sliders to turn it on quickly)?
[quote author=“TruthSeeker”]It looks as if it has menu buttons. Are the screen controls exclusive?
Thats why I said nearly everything…it seems you can take the pic, zoom, change mode, and two or three other things via hardware buttons but it looks like you do a whole lot with the LCD.

You can say that about any number of LCDs, particularly about the ones on the Treo, P800/P900/P910 and any number of PPC phones. Those devices have to come into direct contact with peoples’ wet, oily, salty, acidic, scratchy and/or makeup-caked faces and are just as large or larger than this camera’s.

Well yeah sure, thats why I said I need to see it in person. The LCD of a treo is much thicker then the LCD of my T7.

By extra thickness you mean the digitizer layer, right?
Yup. See, if the N is just a raw touch screen LCD…I see that as a huge problem. It needs to be protected…it must be thick and protective.
here are some good pics of this cam: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0510/05100301sonydscn1.asp
but no review yet from dpreview. I was interested in this raw format that the press release talked about but not listed in the dpreview. Is it a real raw format that raw format readers like photoshop can see? That would be nice. But where is the manual mode? also not listed. if it had manual mode and raw format, I would consider it after winning a lottery or getting a real job (500 usd!!!!).
