[quote author=“jiggy”][quote author=“Gilbert”]70 is frying buddy. My TR is 55C for the HDD and 60C for the system.
so what to do? does this have something to do with max performance setting of chc? but then again, i am downloading office sp2, doing a backup with ATI, and just defraged the drives. i don’t know, this TR is a furnace.
Yes, one can safely assume that the maximum performance setting is the main reason for your TR to overheat. Sometimes CHC/Under volting has an adverse effect as well.
Duffy,
Is there anyway for you to explain how loud the fan noise is, like what it’s noise is comparable to? Possibly record it? I own a 17” toshiba p25 and when only one fans runs, it’s not bad, just a humm but when that all fans kick in, you definitely know it… So, I’m just trying to figure out how loud this thing will be compared to what I’ve got. Thanks!
[quote author=“mortenandersen1”]Thanks for informative answers. I think I will go for a try with the TX, if the fan noise isn’t as loud as in the P7010. The delicate casing and bigger screen, in addition to all the “upgradings” from T, make it difficult to resist the temptation to have such a working tool.
Fujitsu’s updated P7020 is due in about a month, without a fan.
With all this talk about fan noise, I’ve decided to wait until the P7020 comes out so I can compare it with the Sony. Fujitsu’s has reportedly eliminated the fan completely using a new “heat radiation structure”. (Translated from Japanese.)
For those unfamiliar with it, the P7020 is the North American version of the recently updated T70M. It has similar kinds of enhancements: new LED backlight, reduced weight, newer chipset, new memory card slots (xD, SD, MS), several battery sizes, etc. It’s probably the closest thing to the Sony T/TX models, but it doesn’t have built-in EDGE or bluetooth unless these features are added to the North American model.
I’m not pushing the Fujitsu P7020, just sharing info for those who are shopping around. (And want to wait another month!)
You guys still can’t convince me eventually when im going to buy a ultraportable im going with TR why you say is this foolish, is it outdated, is it a piece of shit, whats the point when you can go for bigger and better things? Well i say that
1. .2 pentium m diff not that noticable expect by 7 secs downloading something or w8.
2. Has mic and camera thats pimp take pics with your whores ya thats kool.
3. DVD rw who cares most of us have desktops to do that annoying work.
4. battery life differnce by 20-30 min not bad but if u get bigger battery ya u skool those prick TX players.
5. Bluetooth always could add it ^^ same with DVD rw
6. HD always could upgrade ^^
7. Video card slightly better still sucks because intel sucks at life making video cards thats why we hate bigger laptops with seperate graphics cards :(. But its all good for like almost every game.
8. Dunno for some reason and no im not drunk i think the TR looks nicer maybe color i like even though its a little bulkier its not as long and wide compared to T and TR’s big butt battery like they say tap that ass…....
9. Gotta cry about shitter keyboard hey we get used to crap in life.
10. Damn we need to get a T TR and TX lan party at one of our cribs ^^
P.S. Sry talking old skool since TR is kinda old lol. And im not one of those people just saying, oh i have older item, i dont have it at all and im defending my people who still have the TR its not worth it unless they come out with 1.4 pentium M then ill think about getting the next T series destruction unit.

Either you’ve got a paranoid imagination, or you posted this to the wrong thread! This was mostly people debating the specs of the TX before most of them had gotten their hands on it, but there was no general attack on the much-respected TR. I can’t recall anyone who called the TR “foolish,” “outdated” or “a piece of shit.”
I agree with your basic premise that the TX’s specs don’t automatically make it the best choice. Raw specs just can’t indicate which model is best for you, or anyone else, but you don’t need to attack the TX so venemously. Surely there’s someone out there…somewhere…for whom the TX is a better choice.
The TR is classic. I personally will go with the TR every time compared to the TX. The TX is such piece of junk. There are few cons of going with the TR vs. going with a T for example. I am not even goint to mention the TX until sony fixes their crap.
Cons: It runs warmer than the T, It is slightly thicker/heavier, although this is not that big of a deal and CAN BE IGNORED, It will require few upgrades to bring it up to speed, i.e. BT, DVD+R, HDD, You may want to consider extended warranty for this since it is EOL.
All those are suggestive cons not real problems if you like it.
The pros outrank the cons: Mic, Camera, Slick Design, 2GB memory
Ya your totally right dont forget the TR is quieter i hate loud machines
And ya i am buying a 3 year extra warrenty on it heh not that expensive so why not have this baby for a while ^^.

I see where your coming coming from but if we pay this much money we all mostly go for style to our eyes

With that comment, you just won me over. Although nobody actually said “piece of shit”, they were definitely concentrating on the sexy “style” of the TX, instead of the practical “substance” of models like the TR. Your numbered observations were perfectly accurate, but I guess I took it too literally.
To be fair, I must confess that I chose not to buy a TX after I examined it in person. Instead I bought another used C1, an even older model than the TR. Your comment startled me because the TX is so pretty that I almost bought it, yet it wouldn’t have satisfied me as much as the C1 I bought.
I finally got to try out a TX, the TX650P/B to be exact at CompUSA. Got to say I liked using the T350P/L better when it was on display at CompUSA a while back. Only thing I liked better about the TX is the wider screen, a definite plus. But everything else I found better on the T. Just my personal opinions.
The keyboard was okay, but not as good as the excellent one on the T, this one felt a bit mushy and I found the grey color to be quite ugly. Touchpad was nice, but didn’t like the placement of the two mouse buttons, too close to the edge of the notebook if you ask me.
Found the screen to be just about as good as the Ts, looked the exact same to me, didn’t find any discoloration problems like Gilberto had stated with the reds not displaying correctly, but I thought it could have been a little brighter though.
Was impressed by the thin screen but did find it very, very fragile looking. I’d be very afraid of the screen cracking with it just being carried around in a notebook case, I’d have to put several layers of bubble wrap around it.
Found the EXTREMELY small eject button on the drive a waste of time and engineering. Why did they even put it if they were going to make it so freaking damned small? I know there’s an eject button on the notebook next to the DVD controls, but why put two especially when one of them is ungodly tiny and a bitch to press? Had to use my fingernail to push that damned switch, just insanely small and a stupid idea. Somebody was smoking pot when making that eject switch. I’m curious as to why the drive itself didn’t have any labels on it identifying it as a dual layer drive and such like I’ve seen on pratically every optical drive in existence?
Overall, not impressed with it, would defininately go with a T instead.
