I am about to send my laptop to SONY in San Diego to repair my Hard Drive. However, I am very nervous when sending my laptop to them for number of reasons:
1. The SONY customer service person I talked to seems careless about my laptop issue
2. There is no documentation (email confirmation) about my repair request

She just told me to pack it and ship it to San Diego RRC with Work Order Number. So I’ve never been instructed how should I pack it,how long it will takes ...

So if you already have sent your laptop there, could you please share a alittle bit about your good and bad experience with their service?

If you ship UPS make sure you send the original box, otherwise their insurance won’t cover it if it’s damaged during shipping. That being said, FedEx is better IMO because you can ship it in any box you want.

She was more then likely rushing you (or being careless) because she hears 100s of people each day and she repeats herself countless times.

As for the RMA e-mail…I don’t know if your supposed to get one or not, I would check your spam box first…then maybe call Sony to confirm it.

I would also advise to put a sheet of paper with your notebook with your full name and address you want it shipped back, also include a detailed description of the problem/issue and a items you are sending it with (like AC adapter, etc) and provide your work order number, email address, phone #.
Once they receive it, they will email you that they have it and is being repaired. You may also track the status online with your work order number.
Have faith, I was very satisfied with the work done in San Diego Repare center than in any other place. They do a good job.

ehh? don’t they do all that for you?  this’ll be the second time i ship a computer in & in both cases, they sent me the box & paperwork.  paperwork states what is included in the box.  So i’d include that.

1. prepaid fed-ex box to my house
2. i pack and fed-ex out
3. they fix
4. they fed-ex back w/ the work order and all.

took them 4-5 days

as for my sony san diego experience, i’ve been there in person.  the technitions are really nice.  they’re like everyday ppl like you and me.  i explained what was wrong and they basically fixed it in a day.  now, i’d drive down there again, but gas is getting too expensive & i’m getting lazy heeh

Thanks for all your advises. I was nervous because I got a very bad expericene with Dell laptop repair center. I sent my laptop to Dell and 2 months later, my laptop never made it back to me.

The CSRs on the phone are clueless.

Ask for a box overnighed to you and send it in. They will give you a confirmation # and a case #
