Well, it looks like we were the last, but Sony US finally announced the TX model. TX will sport carbon fiber chasis and will come in different colors, as well as with and without WWAN option.

Missed to note this important new feature of TX: “Sony’s Instant Mode allow you to watch movies, listen to music or view photos with the touch of a button, without having to boot the machine.”
Dell is expected to release new notebooks with Verizon EVDO built in. This will seriously hurt Sony sales in which people wanted the WWAN because Verizon’s network is much larger then Cingulars EDGE.
It would be nice if they offered customers the option to put in whatever service they want. Otherwise, I’d like for them to simply not offer it at all and let us use the PCMCIA slots for it.
At any rate, the TX series seems very intriguing with it’s feature set. I’m wondering if I’ll want to give up either my TR or my S for one. I think I’ll have to see one in person first before I making any decisions.

Don’t worry, Canada will be even slower!
With the Instant Mode, I wonder if it accesses the HD at all? I’m guessing no? If not, the TX would make a great portable DVD player (awesome batt life)!
I think it’s just a small improvement having SD and instant DVD playback w/o logging on Windows.. and for that price.. I’ll wait for the dual core ones and hoping a TV connectivity, like the ones seen on FRVs and some K or A series.. as I watch my Animes on TV.. :D
And the Memory speed is 266Mhz according to http://reviews.cnet.com/Sony_VAIO_VGN_TX670P/4505-3121_7-31516598-2.html?tag=tab
I recently saw that Fujitsu was just catching up the T250s with their new unreleased P models (http://www.leog.net), which is a nice looking machine (and which are not out here in the U.S. either), and Sony ups them one or two with the newer screen size, CF, etc… They go through models like kids through milk, but I love the new innovations. However, in plowing ahead with new Sony innovation, they seem to miss some other market innovations, such as the shock mounted HD with auto head parking during bumps ala Tosh, Leveno, etc… or even puting the BX’s finger scanner on a more likely to be stolen TX (although I know it is not absolute protection).

i wonder if it’ll actually save battery. i heard acer’s version and a couple of other companies tried this, but ended up killing the battery as if the computer was completely on.
I think I will be holding onto my T250 at least until the Sony 1.8” hard drives increase to at least 5400 RPM. I would have thought Fujitsu would have continued with the 2.5” drives in their 10.6” notebooks, but they seemed to have switched to Sony’s design on their new models.
The Verizon card is still lots of fun even though I’ve had it for quite a while. Wonder why no CPU speed upgrade in the new Sonys…another reason to believe its not worth an upgrade from my T250 at this time.

This depend on Intel. If they release new ULV CPU, IMO Sony will have new design. Latest ULV CPU is 1.2G.
