When I first heard of Navitus (RM-NX7000) in the press release, I thought it would be a great idea to get one to control all my AV equipment (I got really tired of 10 remotes laying around), but the price tag on that thing really shocked me, because I did not wanna spend $700 on a remote!
I did some research and what attracted me mostly is that this remote is fully customizable from assigning macros to rearranging buttons, posting your own pictures (each component can have its own wallpaper or background) for each AV device (looks nice on a color remote), and more that I will discuss below.
Anyways, luckily enough MySony Auctions featured this remote for merely $140! All you have to do is bid your points and win the darn thing. I have been earning those points for a while now, and finally have some use for them (MySony auctions had quite a few toys for real cheap and as long as you have enough points, you can save a lot of $$$).
As you have guessed by now, I have won the auction and received the remote finally.

The one thing that the Navitus has, and all other touch screens do not have is something called a “Touch Engine”. This is a really sweet feature that I think will be used by all future touch screen remotes. Whenever I touch a button on the screen, it gives a tactile “push” back, meaning that it feels like a hard button. I have no idea how they do it, but is awesome.
Another neat feature is a screensaver feature. I can load photos in jpeg format that can be used as a screensaver. It even has picture transition features that are user adjustable. By loading the software on your PC, you connect the Navitus via USB and customize it as you wish. The remote came with a thick Manual and I am not even half through that thing. There is just so much!
The packaging for the Navitus is first class. It comes in a black box with gold metallic writing on the outside, really nice. Everything inside was packaged nice and tight. The packaging reminded me of packaging done for VAIO X505 and U750P. I guess since some people paid $700 for it, Sony did not go cheap on packaging materials.

Well as you see, something like a remote control can be so entertaining and rewarding once it is all set up. Say Goodbye to all your remotes and use one to control all of your AV World.
