There’s no drivers that need to be installed for the NW-E507. It simply shows up in your Windows XP Explorer as a Removeable Drive. You’ll have to install the MP3 File Manager but that’s about it and then you can drag and drop songs over.

Root = Main directory…

So, if you’re device shows up as F:\ (or whatever) then you simply put it there.

The root is the first directory that you get into when you open the device. If you go into “My Computer” and open your C: drive, that directory that contains the WINDOWS and Program Files folders is the root. Essentially just plop it on so that it’s not inside any other folder. To see the change, just disconnect and reconnect the device.

Sony finally came to their senses and lowered the price of this product to $159.95 on their website. I’m not sure if it’s temporary or not but it’s now somewhat more worth it now although still pricey among 1GB players.

Usually means the MP3 file is corrupted in some way. SonicStage is extremely picky about it. I’ve converted one of these MP3s to WAV and back to MP3 (yeah, bad) and SonicStage normally takes them in after that.

Anyone got this working? I tried it to the letter - no luck thus far. Perhaps, autorun under Microsoft Windows XP does not support drives of USB type?

Hi

I just purchased a second hand Sony NW-E407 (1GB), but i have noticed that it only has 669.2MB of space, yet everything has bee deleted from it. Is this correct?

Oh also, since my one is a UK player and i know in the UK they limit the volume. On my Sony NW-HD3, there was a code which increased the volume quite abit, is there something similar with the E407?
