I prefer them also, except the USB to USB Mini-B (top center of VAIO Jet’s picture) somehow doesn’t agree with my external backup drive. It seems to underpower the drive.

The larger cable below the USB to B connector has the same connections but it is a USB 2.0 cable and seems to handle the increased power requirements of some of my components.

Just got my USB 2.0 A to USB mini 5 retractable cable and it powers my external drive just fine. Thanks again VAIO Jet!

I also picked up one of those retractable notebook power cables. I wish Sony would make a retractable version for their power transformer.
