Not exactly as good as the iPod Flea but probably the best iPod released to date (in my opinion). I had wished for more battery life and an OLED screen but the size is right and the capacities are great for the price. There goes the market for iPod Mini accessories…
I am sooo tempted. No class tomorrow so I will make the 2 hour drive to my nearest Apple store to see one in person (black). If I like it, off to Educational pricing.
I like the lanyard headphones, but I like my Sony buds, and hate the Apple ones…I wish the lanyard allowed you to attach your own buds. Maybe an aftermarket company will do it.
On a side note, for my GFs birthday I got her a Pink Mini. I told her to keep it sealed…knowing they were to release a new one…she’s gonna decide tonight if she wants to keep the mini or get the nano (I guess with a pink case).
Not as much as I was hoping. Much more streamlined look, much better song info window at the top (2 lines rather than 1), they claim the search is better, you can finally have folders of playlists (w00t!) and more options for shuffling (you can make it more or less likely that the next song played will be part of the same artist/album and it allows you to shuffle by albums, songs and groups). That’s all I noticed so far.
Oh yeah, QT 7 (for PCs) and (apparently) the ability to play videos. I guess the video iPod is coming…
It’s amazing how apple can keep doing things right…sony would never do this. The Nano includes a small white clip that you can use to ‘adapt’ your nano to things that use the multi dock, for example, the Altac Lansing speaker system. This way we dont have to wait (or pay) for the company to pruduce the part, we can use our nano with our current dock items right now. Genius.
I was watching the keynote and Jobs said in stores by weekend, im calling today before making the drive just to make sure they have at least the display model.
Erik
EDIT: 10:30am, all three Michigan Locations do not have the Nano, expect it by Sunday, maybe late today. I’m going to call the Chicago store when they open at 10am CST.
Sony and universal connectors? That would be nice. Although, I’m wondering if they’re turning over a new leaf with new accessories for their new Walkman. They need to encourage 3rd party accessories and commit to a platform if they want to get in on that business.
I want it! I’ll probably try to pick one up later, I’m happy with my Gen 2 Green Mini. I do think this nano will be the thing I’d like to run with being lighter. I’ve bought every generation of Ipod except for the Gen 4 Ipod and Shuffle. Apple keeps doing it right, I will keep on buying Ipods.

i’d already be happy if they made a backward’s compatible anything. lol can you imagine if they made memory sticks all compatible? it would be the end of the world.
The Apple stores by me finally got them in stock. I took a ride out today (about 1.5 hours each way). Man, its perfect. The black shows many more fingerprints and scratches, but it looks hot. They had the 2 GB in Black and White, and the 4 GB only in White. I want the 4 GB Black, so I guess I need to order mine online.
just ordered the 4 gig black one (incl. graving, is this the correct term?), coming together with the docking station and 2 years full-warranty-service
cant wait til it reaches my hands
Sweet. Mine is somewhere in Alaska right now and should be in my grubby hands within the next day or so. I had to get it engraved so there was a delay.
[EDIT]
Ok, I lied. The Fedex guy just delivered it! Holy crap the box is small!
