I just tried it with a friend. It’s super light, easy-to-use, and works as expected. Typical Google.

How does it compare to Skype in your opinion?

The quality is about the same. The setup is brainlessly easy but then that’s because I already have a Gmail account. You simply put in your e-mail address and password and it pulls up your contact info. A lot of my friends have gmail addresses so it’s easy.

With Skype, I had to convince people to install it and create yet another account. So, that was the biggest problem. Skype has many more options and is relatively lightweight but Google is much simpler to use and the integration with IM and Gmail is an added bonus and will like make it popular.

I’m impressed so far—it’s no Trillian, of course, but it does a great job for it’s size.  998k download—I had thought “is this a virus?”, but lo and behold, it’s simple and unbloated.
