Nothing like bing fashionably late. I’ve finally gotten settled enough in my new place to be willing to take a picture of my setup . It’s still very much a work in progress. I still need to buy little things like bookshelves, a couch, a dining table, etc…
hey alexander, your workplace looks like mine… always on the road no real place to set up
Couldn t help but wonder… what do you need the flash light for? Do you have a curfew after what light must be off )

In a russian hospice the flash light is absolute necessity:) And there is no street light in a village.
You’re right I don’t have real place to set up and I often on the road.
Holy cow, you have TWO external hards setup with raid?!? I’ve never seen any personal computer setup with two external hard drives like that before! Did you by chance lose a lot of data to now be so proactive in protecting your data?

sometime in spring this year the hdd of my tr crashed, that was enough of teaching lesson for me ... but moreover due to my new wlan router with vpn channel ability this is a very nice and useful feature for me, since i travel that much, i thought id give it a chance, and it seems to work quite well

I’ve been running 2 external HDDs for years…now I have 4 of them. I don’t think it’s anything unusual, most of my friends have 2. I used 1 for backup and other for huge files I want to move from place to place (house to house or house to office). My newer 2 are setup in mirror raid and are part of a removable enclosure.
Sony Vaio: I have the exact same crappy Creative speakers and mouse. I don’t know if it’s the wireless (Logitech) keyboard I have or what, but the mouse has horrible reception. I used to have the base station on the left side of the desk, and I had horrible cursor jumping problems. i was able to fix the problems by moving the base station to the right side of the desk a few inches away from the mouse.
Erik: I have 2 external HDs. One is for backup and the other for stuff I want to store and move from place to place. Honestly, since I got my iRiver, that one has gotten a lot less usage. My first backup solution was an old DAT tape drive I snagged from work. That was pretty good until it became tapeivorous which is when I replaced it with a Maxtore OneTouch on my desktop system.
i wouldnt say that the mouse, in that case would be keyboard set, media pad and mouse, are crappy ... works fine, since last year 8)
also the speakers are still fine for me (since 3 days)
for me personally i dont need high quality performanced sound system at the computers (mp3s playin while working is enough), therefore would be the livingroom (cinema setup ) responsible
The Creeative speakers are crappy and have horrible bass response. They’re apparently designed to be used with a sub. I bought mine when my hifi system was packed away in my closet when I was painting. In a studio apartment, there is no “living room” vs “computer room”. My cinema setup and computer setup are one and the same.
oh i was sure u could see the subwoofer under the desk ... its a 2.1 system = 2 satellite speakers and one subwoofer ... if my toes need some “air” i just turn it up and believe me, it “blows”
ps: 2 external hdds linked up to linksys network controller, wlan & mirror raid mode
