It is with no small amount of sadness that I announce that my T1XP is up for sale in the UK.

The unit is absolutely pristine, mint condition, fully boxed and looks brand new. It has been looked after with great care, and is less than 6 months old.

I will be taking some photos and putting them online, together with the specs and I’m looking for offers in the region of £999 for this incredible machine - thats £400 off the retail selling price. I will also include a zeroshock carry bag and microsoft optical mouse, and a pair of top range Sony MDR-EX71 ear buds. Any additional software that may be requested - if I’ve got it you can have it.

Why am I selling? Well, after having switched my desktop machines from Windows to Mac, I’m now doing the same with my portables.

I’ll update this thread when I have the photos and details ready. Hopefully the regulars on this board will speak for my reputation when I say this is a genuine offer - and it’s open to UK peeps only.

What type of portable Mac are you getting? I did just the opposite. I wanted something small but Apple had nothing with a pcmcia slot for my wireless card (12” screen or under) and they still don’t. Nowdays my 17” Powerbook does the heavy video editing at home but I take my T250 everywhere.

Actually I’m going for one of the new iBooks - I don’t need the power or extra features etc that the T1XP has anymore, and just need a unit that can be used for simple programming tasks. That’s basically it!

I run a 12inch iBook 1Ghz with 768 MG of Ram and it came with Bluetooth, wireless, firewire, USB 2.0, heaps of battery life. What deos the TR1 have on this? A webcam?

The tr was a nice machine but i’d rather use my iBook for the heavy duty video editing. I run final cut pro HD with DVD studio Pro, 120GB external fireiwre drive and Bang! I’m a walking edit suite. The tr might do it…but it’d be a push. And the G4 chip kicks the crap out of a mobile pentium; no other way to put it.

OK - I don’t have a TR1 , I’m referring to the T1XP.

Over the 12’’ ibook, the T1 has the following benefits:

Longer battery life, higher res and better quality screen, smaller form factor, faster processor, better graphics processor, smaller form factor, two mouse buttons, PCMCIA slot, memory stick slot etc etc.

I don’t really inted to get into a heated discussion about this, but in my opinion the T1XP is far more capable and attractive than the iBook, however I want to switch as I prefer OSX and would like to get some of the £1500 that I paid for the T1 back, and my laptop usage habits have changed.

I think you’ll like OSX and the iBook. The t1 is a monster, desktop replacement so please forgive - it is a capable machine. Once you have an iBook/powerbook running with more than 512MB of ram though i think you’ll be impressed with how easily it handles big tasks.

It’s the replacement for the TR - a subnotebook, definitely not a desktop replacement..
