OK lets see,
I’ve tried quite a few programs, here is my recommendations.
AgileMessenger is free and connects to AOL, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo and Jabber, very good Instant Messaging program.
IM+ also connects to the 4 major protocols only not free so Agile might be your better bet there.
If you mostly just use MSN however jMSN Pro is easily the best MSN client or just IM client around.
All the Handy products are good, I use Handy Safe for a secure area to store important information which people won’t be able to get to if I lose or have my phone stolen. It also syncs to a program you run on your computer so you can easily add entries on the computer or the phone. These are all made by a company called EpocWare.
Without a doubt you must have Opera installed on your phone. It’s free and makes browsing full websites a job.
There isn’t too much in the way of Office apps at the moment but QuickWord and QuickSheet are both Word and Excel compatiable, come together and work well enough to read documents and make small changes while your on the go, assuming you have no laptop nearby of course.
If you do a lot of driving or travelling then Wayfinder is a great app. You can either get a standalone version where you pick your locations and search or you can get the full version with a bluetooth GPS system which will guide you and talk you to your location as you drive. All the maps and directions are stored on remote servers and downloaded when required over GPRS. It’s extremely quick, uses very little data and the advantage is they support many countries.
Again because I do a lot of driving, Fuel Manager is great for storing information on how much fuel you put in your vehicle, prices, miles per gallon, etc.
WorldMate is good to get the weather for places around the world, currency convertions where it will automatically get the latest rates off the net, measurement conversations, etc. However there is a free currency converter as well which is good and also updates off the net.
Finally I have Telnet for Telnet/SSH/SSH2 support, FTP800 for FTP, Quirc for IRC (Free), Mobipocket Reader for eBooks, ZipMan for zip handling but there is a jZip I think it’s called that is free. Also SymZip looks better than ZipMan but I didn’t notice it at the time. Opps. Hehe.
Oh if you like games then there is an almost perfect Lemmings port. Unfortantely the guy that made it had to pull it only a few hours after posting it because of copyright but if you want it then there are places to find it. It’s amazing.
Other games I have on there at the moment are, Atomic (Free), Gridlock (Free), JexedP800 (Free), LoPan (Free), MobileOthello (Free), Musbel Tetris (Free), Qbubble (Free), TwinFruits (Think that was free, cannot remember to be honest), ZCheckers (Free).
Hope this helps you out. Just check out the Application list at My-Symbian for a more full list. There is an awful lot of apps considering the first UIQ device was the P800 so it’s still a relatively new platform.
