Purchased the Sony MDR NC-11 earbuds for my new TR3A and am disappointed in their performance. Volume is extremely low.

I substituted and old set of Sony MDR-W14 earbuds and they are twice as loud.

I have changed out the ear fittings on the NC-11’s but it hasn’t helped. Volume is low with the noise cancellation on or off. Anyone have suggestions?

I’m considering sending these back tomorrow.

Has the little volume dial on the top of the control box gotten stuck? I thought mine was turned up all the way, but it was actually stuck at half volume.

I thought you might have been on to something but I tried it again, made sure the volume was all the way up and no change.

The volume is low and it doesn’t sound full range. It really sounds tinty. It’s lacking. I have to believe these particular earbuds are defective.

Are these comfortable?

They are custom fit to your ear with three size choices of covers for the ear plugs. Once you pick your fit they’re not bad.

My set just has no volume and the frequency response sounds way off.

Yeah, it sounds like they’re defective. Mine sound a little softer than a set of MDR-EX71 earbuds, but when the NC circuit is turned on, I can’t tell the difference.

tifosiv122- They fit really well, and 3 sets of soft silicone caps come with the earbuds to fit almost everyone. The design of the earbuds+noise-canceling blocks out a ton of noise, and makes public transit bearable for me.

Mmm..sounds good to me…I found them for $110 direct from Sony…doesn’t seem too unreasonable if they really work well…

I really wanted the noise cancel feature and they are highly rated on CNet and a couple of other sites.

I’m disappointed and unsure whether to exchange or just return for credit.

My experience with my older set of MDR-W14’s is that they sound great in most environments but on an airplane it’s a strain at top volume to hear them.

That’s where the noise cancellation could be an advantage.

Sent the Sony NC-11 noise cancelling headset back for credit and purchased the Radio Shack 3 channel headphone Volume Booster.

Works great! Thanks for the recommendation.

Have to say the orginal puchase was the first Sony product I’ve been disappointed in.
