I know it’s a longshot, but I was wondering if anybody can tell me what the white socket on the left side of the picutre below is for.  This is an R505GL Motherboard, the pic is right under the memory stick slot.

I’m not sure but it looks quite similar to the IDE slot that the hard drive and cd-rom on my TR3A plugs into.

My I ask the reason you’re wondering this (might help clear up what exactly it is).

It is similar, although the design differs slightly and there are less pins here.  I’m asking out of general curiosity.  I’m considering soldering in a USB bluetooth adapter into one of the two unused buses on this laptop.  I thoguht about the TR internal bluetooth upgrade when I saw this connector.  I have the service manual and there is no mention of this connector outside of an unlabeled box on the [edit]frame harness diagram[/edit], but surely it musy be intended for something.
