Unless you’re a true Sony Whore, it’s no better than most of the others mostly due to SP2 being pretty functional. The sum total of its advantages are:
- It’s small
- It’s white (I know iBook users who bought it for that fact alone)
X It comes with BlueSpace
Fuck it, just download it.
Actually BA2 dongle does not come with any software at all. Just says that it works with SP2 only. BA1 is supplied with software mentioned above. You can find a good deal sometimes on Ebay, I picked up BA2 from Ubid for $32.
It’s cool. It’s small. It’s white and it glows with a nice blue light when on.
It works well and in fact does match my iBook True plug in and go on the Mac, but for the PC; well you need to frig aruond with drivers and software and after a breath holding you can watch it work.
It does have a good range, but if I hadn’t picked it up for cheap I would definately have gone with something else (white or not), as it’s hell expensive from Sony.
[quote author=“Shftup”]Ok, so which dongles are best, and what should one be looking for in the a USB bluetooth dongle other than it being 1.2V.
thanx
the best dongle would be one that supports all the profiles you need. get a class 1 adapter if you want to maximize the range (up to 328 feet or 100m.)
Both versions probably do not differ significantly. BA2 is probably an updated version that will only support system with at least SP2. I’ve the BA1 and it works fine with my non-VAIO Desktop.
If you have XP SP2, you don’t need software. It uses a standard CSR chipset that SP2 has drivers for. I just plugged my BA1 into my desktop and it detected it right away. If you want/need Bluespace, there are a few links to the Sony Europe FTP site on the forum if you use the search function.
