So, I order the TR3A through best buy. It had $200 in rebates if purchased between 2/15 and 2/21.
So, I order on 2/20 and take advantage of the 2 years 0% APR deal.
Because someone at BestBuy/HRS credit fat-fingered my phone number, the card was declined, and the order cancelled. All without BestBuy even attempting to contact me.
I only found the order was cancelled after checking the order status online.
Anyways, I call back, fix the data error and reorder. Looks like it went through properly this time.
However, Bestbuy is refusing to honor the rebates even though this is all entirely their fault.
Any suggestions as to how to deal with this?
Oh, and to add insult to injury, the laptop is now backordered. (where as it wasn’t on my original order)
they are mass-marketers - customer service is very low on their list of priorities. I have had this issue with them on several different occassions. Very, very annoying.
I ordered a TR2 though BB. I kept checking the status and everything seemed fine. 3 days later it was canceled. I could not get a straight answer as to why. I went to re-order and found out they stopped selling the TR2…this was in Decemeber.
They said even if it was their fault they would not have issued a pricematch even if they had it in. I basically told them where to stick it. Since then I will never buy anything from BB again…mind you last year I spent close to $10,000 there.
I went to CompUSA…not only did they match BB even their rebates, but I got $100 Free Gift Card on top…$1,900 after Rebates and taking into account the Gift Card.
Now I buy everything online or in CompUSA…BB can kiss my butt.
[quote author=“pheller”]Well, we’ll see how happy they are after I send letters to the BBB, State Attorney General, and FTC. I’ll make sure to copy their CEO on them.
And, if they don’t bend on this, I’ll simply waste 10 or 15 hours of their time in one form or another.
I was originally going to buy $150,000 worth of electronics and return it one by one…eating up their free shipping…but then I got what I wanted, Best Buy lost, not me. And I get to keep my Credit Card free of $150,000 worth of electronics I don’t want.
The best answer I got was they tried to verify my CC and phone # and my phone # was a fax…which it isn’t, it’s a Cell phone. My CC said they have no record of a verification so I assume BB just ran out of stock and canceled my order for no reason…or it just happen to sell out the exact same time they canceled my order…
CompUSA also did well because I bought an extended warranty…normally I don’t but they were being so nice and the price was decent so I figured what the hell.

Notice I ordered on the 9th, it was canceled on the 11th…what took so long to verify a CC? Common BB, you suck!
Yeah, Best Buy canceled my pre-order for a TH-55 PDA today, saying that the price of $320 was a misprice and that they wouldn’t honor it, even though I called in and confirmed that it would go through. I’m through shopping there because of the crummy prices and sales people trying to sell extended warranties any chance they get.

They canceled those?
They had the price for a while…I was thinking about ordering one to price match it with…damn they really suck!
pheller,
something similar happend to my government teacher this past year. after buying an electroinc with a 100 dollar rebate, best buy said his rebate was expired before his purchase. he called bestbuy they said that his rebate was old or w/e and he couldnt get his 100 dollars. he asked to talk to the manager and the person said that he was the manager and there was nothing that he could do. my teacher then asked for the regional manager and they forawarded him and then he explained everything to that guy who easliy gave him his rebate for 100 dollars.
[quote author=“cellery”]Unfortunately they did. The price was even up for almost a week before being pulled, there’s a thread with angry people over on ClieSource:
Yeah I just went there and found the link myself. Since I got my TR i’ve been going to Cliesource less and less…I didn’t go since the $319 price was announced at BB…I swear they are getting worse and worse as the days go by.

Phil…
I had a similar experience with Sony’s online site when I bought my TR2AP1. I then cancelled that order after several days of frustration.
Thanks to feedback on this site, I decided to order it from newegg.com. It was a great decision for me. The price was less, the feedback via e-mail was excellent with regard to my credit card verification, order specifics and shipping updates. It arrived on time in perfect condition.
Here’s a link to their site for a TR3AP1 for $2,157.00 and it shows it as in stock (it also shows several other models). I’m not sure if you want to cancel your BestBuy order and you’ll have to decide if the price is within your budget or whether you need this particular model, but I have no hesitation recommending this firm.
