Hi to all, how do I restore the default Sony recovery stuff? I’ve been pressing F10 after the Vaio logo and all I see are broken lines on the bottom of the screen.  A little history, I partioned the 60Gb in there to have 2 partitions for my files using the old school style, Fdisk.  Now after the resizing of partions, it gave an error saying Operating System Not Found, so I basically installed WinXP Pro from my old HP latop disc and used the T’s cd-key, so I have Win XP on it (T250).  I want to recover everything by using Sony Recovery Media and that’s all I see no GUI like the ones found on my S series when I tried to restore just the C drive..

If you fdisked your drive, it sounds like you blew away the recovery partition. You made recovery CD/DVDs, right?

Actually I saw the hidden partition about 5gb, so I know that’s the recovery set, and I didn’t make a recovery disc assuming since the recovery should work like on my S, which I did pretty much the same, and it worked, it recovered my partion, but on the T, it seems a different scenario..  But I did have a recovery set on my S will that work? I think it was 7 CDs..

Ok just entered live chat and found out I have to purchase Vaio Recovery CD..  :(  Anyone has any alternative?

Maybe you could take a dvd-r to a Best Buy and create a recovery dvd using their display model?

Edit:  Also, let this be a lesson to all the “nah I don’t need to create a recovery disc, I’ll be fine!” people out there.  :wink:

You know that is my plan B if I can’t get it on tonight.. thanks  

with the Recovery CD, there are 2 options

1. restore c drive back to factory default, including system and partition size of c drive

2. reclaim the disk space of recovery partition, but put all the drivers on the c drive

just copy from the VAIO Recovery Wizard

only way is option 2, if I want 2 partitions.
am I correct?

Ok I’ve found this thread way back last year, and I’ve followed the steps

I have backed up the entire hidden partition unto a DVD disc.
Now from there I can’t seem to run the recovery wizard.. any idea
how to run the recovery or install it?  And also I’ve found out I need a PartSeal.exe can anyone post it to where I can get that file?
