Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. announced today that they will release a black variant of the PSP remote/headphone (PSP-140B) and an external battery charger (PSP-190) for the PSP on July 14, 2005. The new peripherals will cost 3,675 yen and 2,940 yen respectively.

PSP-140B, Headphone with remote control

Main body color: Black
The PSP-140B is virtually identical to its original white version.

PSP-190, Battery Charger

Size: 46×36×88mm (width × height × depth)
Mass: 95g
Input: AC 100～240V (20～29VA)､50/60Hz
Output: DC4.2 V 1550mA

The PSP-190 battery charger charges the standard PSP battery in about 1 hr and 35 minutes.

The battery charger would be most useful. It will cut down charging time by 2/3. Anyhow, I am hoping to see the release of a PSP keyboard.

No information as yet regarding North American release. However, I am sure it’s about the same time.

That’s identical to the T7’s charger (well design wise). I would pick one up just so I can charge one and use the PSP away from the wall (even though the standard charger has a huge cord).
