I cannot help but notice that the wifi on my T series is extremely sensitive.  ie: If I have my bluetooth phone near my laptop the wifi will run very slowly and sometimes not at all.  If I sit down in my kitchen, 6 or 7 feet away from the microwave I get very sporadic operation.  Most times the wifi will not even work until I shut the microwave off.

Previously I had a TR with groovyone’s wifi G upgrade card and upgraded bluetooth and I never ever had any reception problems with the wifi.

Anyone else notice this?  Maybe its time to upgrade the wifi, I wonder if the Netgriti wifi card would work in the T series?

I’m not so sure this problem is caused by your lappy. I have a T150P. I like to work in the yard, under the oak trees, which is near the edge of my WiFi range. I bought a Bluetooth mouse, and was prepared to have to switch it off when using WiFi by the oak trees. But my experience is that there is no WiFi degradation when using the Bluetooth mouse. Actually, I was quite surprised.

Microwave ovens are some of the worst appliences imaginable for generating noise. There is a huge amount of unit-to-unit variation, even within the same brand. So the Nuker test doesn’t mean much.

If anything, I’d expect BT to be disrupted by WiFi more than the reverse because of the signal strength. When I bought my internal BT module, the antenna cable was backordered, and BT was literally unusable (even mere inches away) while WiFi was active.

SpineDOc: You might look into getting an 802.11a AP/router and either the Netegriti card or the Intel ABG card. 802.11a works at 5.8 GHz as opposed to the 2.4 GHz frequency that 802.11b/g, BT, your microwave and many cordless phone models use.

Hm… I use a MS Bluetooth Desktop (mouse + kb) with my T and suffer no apparent degradation in signal quality with BT on or off.  Have you tried maybe reposiitioning your wifi router or changing its channel?

This is quite odd.  I have a Pocket PC phone, the Audiovox PPC6600 with bluetooth.  If I have my phone within a foot or so of my T series the wifi connection slows down, both in internet browsing and my connection will actually show less Mbps.  Once I move the phone away it clears up within seconds.

I will test it out this weekend with a bluetooth mouse, and another bluetooth phone.

Drachen, in regards to your solution, do you know if the Netgriti card that we all used to upgrade our TR2A’s will work with the T-series?  I have my netgriti card sitting around since I traded in my TR.

Maybe it’s not the bluetooth, but the phone that’s causing the problem????

Just to contrast, my old TR would not have these same problems even if I was right next to a running microwave.  And I certainly had my bluetooth phone right next to my TR for at least a good year, with none of these problems.
