5400RPM at 160GB (8MB cache) with the new perpendicular recording should be very fast. They’re claiming 4200RPM-like power consumption which is probably true since their current drives are miserly on power. Throw in a 5 year warranty and you have a kick ass product.

There’s also 120GB versions for those on a “budget”.

Weeee!   And so this is the right thread, I’ve been looking for the “Latest Thread” but couldn’t find one, and so I posted it.. Sorry for the confusion.. Anyway exciting isn’t it, 160GB 2.5-inch drives with 5400rpm? Plus OSX coming soon for the PC platform..  Seeing Mac notebooks on local stores here in LA county, makes me want to get one!.. But whenevery time I play with it, I keep looking for the “Right-click”..  :o

Anyway Groovey pretty soon you’ll put “Apple Section” here for some of us who aren’t well versed in Mac..  That’ll be the day..  8)

That implies that OS X will run on standard PCs which it will likely not. We only know the converse of that and that’s Windows will be able to run on the Apple platform.  :wink:

Yeah, I know. You will not be able to dual boot a non-Apple system with Mac OS X. It’s wishful thinking. However, Apple has said that it may be possible to boot Windows XP on an Apple Intel-based system.

That said, it’s entirely possible that someone (possibly even Microsoft or VMWare) will make Virtual Mac Intel Edition that allows you to run OS X in a virtual machine under Windows or Linux. Of course, the licensing issues need to be worked out. I’ll bet you there will be a gang of open source peeps out there trying to reverse engineer Apple’s BIOS to run under some sort of emulator.

Apple is never friendly with that sort of thing, but if your adventurous, there’s PearPC .
