[quote author=“archied1”]Does anyone have opinions on what factory software to keep, and what to uninstall? I just bought a T250P/L and there is a lot of VAIO stuff on there that looks like it may be useless, but I am never sure what I might screw up. VAIO control center, VAIO media center, multiple dvd and music players burners, Soundmax—the list goes on and on.
This may be an old topic, but I paged through the forum and couldn’t find anything on it.
Here are the ones I would recommend, that are important to the function of the notebook:
- Hotkey Utility. This lets you use the five buttons on the hinge.
- Memory Stick Formatter.
- Setting Utility.
- SoundMAX. This is the audio driver.
- Sony Certificate PCH, Utilities DLL, Video Shared Library. Libraries and dependencies for various Sony apps. Negligible size, but could be important.
- VAIO Control Center.
- VAIO Power Management.
- VAIO Update.
- Wireless Switch Setting Utility.
The rest are more or less added-value software that aren’t necessary to operate your notebook. I kept Media, Media Server, SonicStage, VAIO Zone, Picturegear, RecordNow!
