I am doing a final project for my Human Geography class. The project basically is pick and item that you use regularly and find out exactly where it comes from and track it on a map back to you. IE like resources to manfactureing to the store to you. I was wondering if anyone knew specifically where a VAIO laptop is made i know its japan but id like to get a specific on it. Thanks

That’s a really ambitious subject for a project, because the parts are mostly commodity and don’t all necessarily come from Japan. The memory chips (I seem to remember that the chips were Infineon) were probably fabbed in Germany, the CPU was probably from the USA, and I wouldn’t doubt there are tons of subcontracted parts from Korea and Taiwan in it.

There are some VAIO notebooks manufactured in Japan and some in US with foreign components as the stciker says, or even China (K series, A series). You can create a diagram with arrows of different components pointing to VAIO as the final product.  :wink:

Hehe…. in my head as I was typing I had “the” [definite article, as they call it in philology] but omitted it in my post. It’s like some labels say: Made in USA and some Made in the USA.
