You want to make sure the memory is 333MHz capable if you want to use it with the T. The TR used 266MHz memory (but could also use 333Mhz memory). In general, you don’t want to mix different speed memory. You “can” in some cases but it can also cause problems so it’s something to be aware of.

It will run “underclocked” at 266Mhz. Again, there’s no guarantee this won’t cause problems with your current 266MHz memory.

Thanks. I’m already maxed out at 1GB but would have considered switching for faster memory if it would have made a difference.

Your not exactly maxed out coz the TR mthrboard can take in about 2 GB of ram !

As far as I am aware the TR2MP has two slots and the biggest chip I can find is 512MB.  The Sony spec says:

Standard memory
512 MB (upgradeable to 1024 MB)

Memory specifications
Upgradeable to 1024 MB - DIMM 266 Mhz DDR

Do you have a source for larger DIMMs that will work in the TR2MP?

Look for microdimm here or just search on this forum itself. You can buy 1 GB mem modules.There are plenty of links here as this has been discussed in detail before. 1 GB chips are quite expensive tho, with prices going upto 300 $.

Both S series and TR series motherboards can accomodate upto 2 GB RAM. Sony doesnt mention it for some reason but its a known fact around here.

It is correct to becareful with the ram on the t-series.  My first 512 RAM worked fine except when in performance mode (This is set in the Bios), it would blue screen regularly.  I sent the RAM back because it was suppose to be compatible with the T-series.  I purchased some elsewhere and have had no problems.

I bought one 512MB module at eWiz.com for $105 and it works well at both 266 and 333MHz with my T250P. Price was just $95 for 512MB PC2700 Microdimm but now they sold out.
