Uh, guys… this thing is a total new media in-joke.
“Once, I thought I had him,” said Lucian Wanamaker, “when I said that mom had made cookies , but half out of his chair, he just sat back down mumbling something about two Roman gods; I believe it was Jupiter and Atlas having some sort of titanic battle. ‘Let them eat PIE ,’ he bellowed banging on his keyboard.”
I thought it was pretty damn funny though.
babahi: LMAO.

I was waiting for someone to mention that…it was pointed out on Digg as well…where I found the link in the first place.
[quote author=“OnMyWayUp”]Business… last i talked to him he was quiting his job at Ann Taylor Loft for his real estate startup…
Isn’t the name Lucian just a tad… odd… for the name of a son?...
Hmmm… I’ve heard from friends in real estate (granted, in New York City) that real estate is starting to cool down a bit from the absolute ridiculousness of the past year. They also complain about people with no idea what they’re doing going into real estate and slowing everything down by not having paperwork. What markets is Chris concentrating in? Truthseeker, how are things in central FL?
Lucian isn’t that odd a name. I’d consider it a variant of Lucas or Luke. It’s still traditional, it’s something you’ll probably only need to spell on the phone half the time and it has a nice nickname (Luc/Luke). The only annoying thing I can think of is that nobody will pronounce it correctly. Everyone will say loo-shun rather than loo-see-an.

They say that in life everything comes full circle. In New York, sellers have been getting everything they want: price and terms. Well, now that they have been coming down here, they realize that the ridiculousness is not over for us. The sellers down here are putting the screws to them as well. I feel bad for the local buyers, but not one bit for the Northerners. They whine and complain like children because they cannot find what they deem to be a deal.
Excuse me while I look for my smallest fiddle.
Yes, it is true that a lot of people are getting into real estate for all the wrong reasons. Our local board membership has almost tripled in just a few years. The learning curve has not set in for many of these ‘noobs’ and there are many problems with incomplete contracts. There will be a major fall-off as people realize that this is just as much real work as anything else. We are dealing with the largest investment that people deal with in their lives. They have no time for people coming in trying to make what they think is an ‘easy buck’.
I hope that answers your questions, and I hope that Chris is in it for the right reason: to unselfishly serve the client. Only then does it become rewarding…....both financially and otherwise. 8)

I didnt talk to him too much on the topic but i think its just gonna be local. Santa Clarita Valley. I would say its a good market but im no expert. Land is being taken up so I can only see house values rising as everyone from LA moves out to the “suburbs”. We get a new kid from LA or San Diego almost every week at school… Hopefully he’ll do well. I think he’s good with people (everyone at his work seemed to like him) and generally your on amicable terms with your realtor and if your not u leave them so he shouldn’t run into a problem like the forum… (at least not too many)
I just hope he can find time to get off of his computer… I think he loved it more than anyone in here.

When I closed a couple of months ago, the bank rep was late after having the ‘closing from hell’ in her words, where it was just buyer and seller: no attorneys, no agents. That started a whole discussion with both attorneys and my agent about about horror stories where they had to do double work because the other party’s agent/attorney had no clue what they were doing, but to serve the best interests of their client the deal had to get done anyway.
I’ve seen the same influx of people with no passion in the computer industry before the dot-bomb, where everyone and their sister was going into computers because there was good money in it. Many of those people wouldn’t know a router from a toaster if it was placed in front of them. Until the market goes back to normal (or lies in a tattered heap like IT), and there’s a lot of money to be made, people will go into it no matter their interest, skill level or what.
