I’m confused. The battery is dead and it wont charge, right? If you plug it in, does it work (but doesn’t charge)?
Erik
The charger and battery are fine, it’s the power unit inside the laptop that seems to have blown. I think due to an incorrect voltage from the car charger.
The problem is now I can’t charge the computer rendering it useless :(
Personally I suspect its a battery issue, since you are still able to run the notebook from the wall plug. If you are sure its in the notebook, try using a continuity tester on the surface mounted components next to the power plug on the motherboard. One of them will likely be a blown fuse.
Unless you’re experienced in repairing electronics, I think the best course of action is to find a reputable computer repair shop and have them do it for you. Replacing small-surface mount components is something that takes a lot of experience to do correctly. You could end up making things worse in attempting a repair.
