I’ve got a TR3AP2 that came with a 40GB Hitachi Travelstar hard drive. Does anyone know which 60GB Travelstar is the right one to buy if I chose to upgrade?

i’m not sure if the 60 is available to the public yet

try to get a hd that’s the same manufacturer as your current one ‘cause the pin setup is different between toshiba and hitachi

I’ve actually been able to figure out that the IDE version of the 60GB C4K60 should be the right drive. But as you said, availability is another matter. Like the Toshiba I read so much about, the Hitachi appears to be a wish, and nothing more.

I dont think your TR3AP2 comes with 40GB Hitachi, it’s 40GB Toshiba with model is MK4004GAH.

they’re different, but sony has used both types in the TR series.  I used to have a hitachi, but after it died, they gave me a toshiba.

No, its definitely the Hitachi. Device Manager is conclusive.

they just changed it to fit. 

but i have to give it to hitachi… it is much quieter
