I just purchased the Sony SDM-HS95P monitor.  It is sweet.  My PC has both VGA and DVI outputs on the ATI video card so I have both the new monitor and my old 17” flat panel hooked up.

I am finding the handling of the dual monitors to be a bit of a hassle.  I would like to find some software that can allow me to go to dual monitors or a single monitor or clone mode quickly and easily.

Does anyone know of software that makes this easier?  My ATI software allows me to swtich between single and clone mode but not while Windows has the dual-monitor feature enabled. So to switch between dual monitor and clone I have to turn off “Extend onto this monitor”, then use the ATI software to switch to clone mode.  It’s inconvenient to say the least.

UltraMon will let you do all of that on the fly by right-clicking on a tray icon. It also includes a dual-monitor taskbar and the ability to put different wallpapers on each monitor. Download the trial version to test it out, but IMO it’s well worth the $40.

Another vote for UltraMon…I run it on 3 of my PCs with dual monitors, it’s the best i’ve seen.

Im cheap… i just uninstall it before it expires and reinstall it. They havent done anything to prevent doing that

combine this with the ultramon; u get a fully multiscreen application suport.

it is actually a great combo no joke.

In my case I use the second monitor for several things.

I can have something up on the first monitor and use the second monitor for data entry.  For instance, I pull up a PDF of my bank statement on one monitor and Quicken on the other to do my statement reconciliation.

My main monitor faces towards a wall because I sit behind my desk facing into the room.  My second monitor has felt feet on it which allows me to easily swivel it to face the room.  I can use this setup to allow other people to view pictures, etc.

I can play DVD’s on the second monitor while working on the first.

I can leave my email program up and running on the second monitor.

I use the second monitor to display the Remote Desktop on my laptop which is in the basement connected to my projector.  This allows me to use the laptop just like it was on my desk without having to hook anything up.

Besides, it’s just cool.

how’s the frame rate of the application runing on the second mornitor?
is it about the same as remote desktop connection? which is not that fast.

Where did you get those stands?  Are those the stands from Griffin Technologies called the iCurve?  I wanted to get one of those for my TR3 but wasn’t sure it would fit right.  It looks like it would.

yeah i am using with the s150 and it works pretty darn well it was so worth the $35 bucks.  it is a little slow sometimes you get a little herky jerk but not always.  it works well with steaming quotes and i would assume that kind of intensive graphics process.  i like it.  (just wish i knew how to make $$ in the market

yes they are icurves i got them at jandr.com for like 23 bucks a pop and they fit fine.

I use them for web development. Code on one monitor, output results and things like performance monitors on the other.
