I’ve used a Toshiba 2GB PCMCIA drive over the past few years. Whilst it seems a good idea, the capacities don’t seem to have kept pace with technology inflation, and I find a USB memory stick more use for day-to-day activities.
With the old 30GB 1.8” drive from my TR1 in an external USB enclosure (powered from the USB port) available for high-capacity external storage, and a 256MB memory stick, I find I don’t use the 2GB PCMCIA drive at all these days.
Another possibility is a PCMCIA memory card adaptor: I seem to have accumulated loads of Compact Flash cards, and a MicroDrive, and the ability to plug those into my laptop has been useful on occasion.
