Picked up 2 new games the other day, making 8 in total, those are Mercury and MLB Baseball.

MLB Baseball is 989 (Sony) game. MVP, which will be out in a few weeks, is made by EA Sports. I also pre-ordered that one, so I will do a little comparison when I have both.

The graphics are pretty decent, the fields and the crowd look good…the players are a bit polygony (blocky) and not smooth. The controls (pitching) is ultra-sensative. The screen is too tiny to have full control of the field, I had to set it to auto or assist in order to make any plays. Things happen too quickly and the ball is small. Play by play is impressive…2 announcers, full speach, background info, etc. Load times are long, but so far all three 989 games i’ve played had long(er) load times.

Mercury - Essentially a cross between marble madness and monkey ball. You get mercury and you need to get it to the goal…you don’t move the mercury, you move the level, like monkey ball. You need to spray paint the mercury to get through certain gates, split the mercury, join it, etc. Seems easy, but a bit harder then it looks. Very unique…a game you can just pickup and play for a few mins or several hours…a must buy!

I finished 72% of Mercury in about 3 hours and traded it away, the later levels are frustrating and it would have been cool if the tilt sensor had made it out. I was about to get MLB tomorrow, but will probably import something like Bleach or Minna no Golf instead. Back to letting the TR encode some mp4 files! 

Thats dissapointing to hear…I was hoping to get more play out of it…

I’d heard Mercury was easy, but I’m finding it challenging enough - actually the hardest challenge is stopping my fingertips from going numb whilst playing - the PSP is so dificult to use if you have large hands!

I’ve also been tracking down the original Wipeout Trilogy on Playstation, as the PSP has got me back in the groove again, I just love that game.

looking forward to Smart Bomb, which is out shortly, isn’t it?

My movie collection is growing nicely though - got 20 and counting, with a 1GB memory stick on the way, wahaay!

I played Mercury for a few hours last night, i’m still getting used to the controls a bit, having never played monkey ball, and I am only about 33% done. The puzzles aren’t challenging, its just doing them that can drive you up a wall, lol.

Yes, smartbomb isn’t out just yet.

Actually, I think I may be missing the point with Mercury - have you seen how insane the highscores are? Beating them seems to be the main challenge for me :shock:

Highest I have ever gotten is 3rd place. I’m up to level three…it’s mult-tiered levels…too cool.

I must not be that good either becuase i’ve logged over 2 hours already…

I’m at about the same as you Erik - Level 3 early levels. Actually went back to replay the tutorials to see if i could get some hi-scores….I really think I’m rubbish at this..but really like it all the same.

Just keep repeating in your head…‘do not throw PSP across the room’...I know it’s tempting

I’ve gotten as far as I am going to get with mercury ~82% done. It’s at the point where its just too complicated and i’m getting annoyed. I am keeping it for the 2 player mode for at least a week…after I try it if it’s not worth keeping i’m going to trade it in. Hot Shots Golf comes out next week and I also want to pickup fifa.

I am still glad I purchased it, I got plenty of use out of it. I am addicted to Lumines now…and so is my GF :cry:
