Is anyone able to get 848x480 to show up in “List All Modes…” under the adapter tab in Advanced display properties?  My T only allows 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x768.

This all depends on the graphics driver i know on my desktop NVidia allows you to create new rez not normally displayed in the grapics properties. Not only that but i think windows blocks certin rez, because ive gotten lower rez then 640x640 on my TR and desktop before and they dont show up. If i have some time ill investigate this for ya.

ohh yea BTW 848 x 480 is a really strange rez.

It is a pretty uncommon res.  Its the widescreen version of 640x480, also called WVGA.  If you look in the show all modes under adapter, most computers will list this mode.  The VAIO seems to be limited here I suppose.  Its kind of a pity since 848x480 would scale up to 1280x768 perfectly.

I would hazard a guess that you might be able to do some kind of registry editing to show up the desired res, but I have absolutely no idea of where that would be or how to go about it :?

I have a feeling tweaking the INF files for the display adapter and the display itself would be a good place to start, but of course thats a risky proposition at best.  Could end up having to reformat a dead machine.

Well I just remember reading about someone wanting to enable the ‘rotate’ tab under display>properties>advanced and it was said that it could be done through the registry, although they couldn’t remember how…  That was the thinking behind my reply!
