In spite of having to wait even longer than North Americans for their PSP, South Korean users will get a web browser included with their PSP when it launches there on May 2. Could this also mean that the rest of the world will get the same web browser in a firmware update on May 2?

its not gonna be too far away when they implement a small mail client too, is logic 3 the only ones that have made a keyboard for the psp? do you think by putting linux on memory card there would be a way to run the OS?

Update: Korean PSP NESPOT Browser Confirmed!

Coming this May 2nd, the Korean market will get a PSP bundled with a web browser UMD network utility disc. The UMD network utility disc will facilitate connection to either a special online PSP club or NESPOT, a net service provided by South Korean telecommunication provider, KT. Net browsing via NESPOT will require a monthly fee of 5000 won or 530 yen.

At this point, there’s no mention of similar service for Japan or the North American market. Well, enjoy the pictorial.

Wow. Neat information. So does it mean that the PSP will be limited in its web browsing capability to only PSP Club and NESPOT? One cannot go to let’s say Yahoo.com?

The press release was not specific. But I do believe for the South Korean market, one can surf the net beyond the provider’s domain via NESPOT - just like we need to sign up for a plan with our local net provider.

Perhaps, the North American and Japanese market will have a more flexible service? Only time will tell.

You can already surf the web using your PSP and wipeout Pure, no need to wait for the specific UMD browser (although the upcoming one will be an official full featured one i guess ! )
