its beeing a while since i post the last, but i was quite busy (that does not mean i didnt read lots on the forum). 8)
Here´s my short story, i got a tr1ap last year more or less, i used it mainly for music production and design interfaces, flyers,stuff…
two weeks ago i was doing a live and everything went smooth but i finished 15 mins before the suposed time and went drinking with a friend (before i locked the vaio into my bag and put it into the lockers room) well then, kind of a huge amount of punks stole it, not just my vaio, all the stuff in the lockers room, clothes, a pc, vinyls, even comdoms..

the thing was that i needed a slight faster machine but was thinking in selling it…

So now i´ve win a bid on ebay for a t250l for 1600€ (not much in comparison with the 1900 the tr1 was, so not bad at all) but im thinking:

:?: 1. now if i did a good buy, or if is not as fast as i thought.

:?: 2. HD, 4200rpm. Is it a big difference with the 5400 or 7200 notebooks HD? or i will live well with it. Cause the p7010d was the other machin to consider and, guys i really dont know
:?: 3.is there a way to change the HD to a faster one? and will be hitachi or samsung or any brand, doing a 1.8 with a different RPM

First, I can anwser question 3.
You dont have any way to change HDD of T250. It’s largest of 1.8” HDD with 60GB and no one will have different RPM with 1.8” 4200rpm drives.
Anwser for question 2, 1.8” with 4200rpm hard drive is much smaller and slower than 2.5” but it consumes less power than 2.5” so you also have longer battery life. You should read review of them and consider your decide.

An final, if you dont want to complete deal, let try to persuade seller make a mutual withdraw your transaction. You will not receive NBP strike when seller claim for their FVF.

sry i cant speak from personal experience with the T but I did have a TR and, IMO, its a great computer but if u want more power ur gonna need a desktop for backup or just get an S

as long as your HD doesnt bust, which is unfortunately very common with the 1.8"s, the performance is exactly what would be expected from it—it isnt a RAID 0 Raptor setup… it’s just satisfactory

Thanx guys but im still a little confused, im just thinking in p7000 or t250 so the S is not an option , also i thought in the r3, but i really need an optical drive. I dont need a super fast laptop but 1.2 its the minimum right now.  Do you guys find the t fast enough for audio editing?

The T250 will capture and edit digital video from a DV camcorder using DVgate Plus. I can also export the edited movie back to DV tape. I can also burn a DVD from the edited video using “Click to DVD”.  The software is included in the T250 purchase. I am thinking of taking it further with Sony’s Vegas video editing products. The T250 will make a nice back up laptop for my 17” Powerbook. It will do everything I bought it for, and it has bluetooth and about 45 minutes longer battery life than the P7010 without lugging around an extra battery. Commercial DVD movies like “Kill Bill” and “The Incredibles” have played as smooth as butter on my T250. Besides all this it just looks cool and business like, although perhaps I might have bought a silver colored model if they had them when I purchased. In short, I am well pleased with my T250. Not sure what audio applications you want to use it for, but video can be done.
If you consider fan noise as a deciding factor, I hear the P7010 can be quite noisy; both the 1.1 and 1.2 Ghz models. The T250 is whisper quiet.

I mean COME ON…these guys only solution seems to be employing their power saving adjustments; handicapping thier CPU’s on the P7010 to run at HALF speed in order to keep the fan from comming on. I set my Power adjustments just the opposite; at the full 1.2 Ghz CPU speed, using Speedswitch,  PERMANENTLY at all times (even on battery) and the fan is exceedingly quiet. I mean if you are going to run your laptop at half speed I don’t see how a P7010 can be better, do you? Of course if you don’t mind your fan annoying neighbors in an otherwise quiet environment this is a moot point, but just one occurence of that would be embarrassing to me.

Yeah man i see your point and i agree with that. The Bluetooth is so necesary to me: im using an usb midi, usb sound card (2usb filled)and a mouse so i need at least one thing plugged in the bluetooth.
And not on the pcmcia that will make a laptop little a bulky.
But 4200rpm, thats the only thing that stress me, using Traktor or reason 3.0 for lives.
I´ve read the comments you did on the leoG forum and i think you were doubting like me between both machines, and after you had the T you regret a bit.

Anyway im recieving it tomorrow afternoon, and i will post my thoughts.

I think there was a time I did regret, but after reading the recent posts on fan noise with the P7010 and then after discovering the T250 could edit video and burn to DVD without problems I felt much better about it. Each laptop has its advantages and disadvantages. I do wish the T had an s-video port, but I can manage without it; after all, I did buy it especially for mobility; not a desktop replacement. I have the Powerbook for that. But the fact it can be a backup for the Powerbook is reassuring.

Some laptops will output S-Video through the VGA port. It may be worth while trying one of these cables to see if the T-Series can. After all it comes with the same graphics chipset as the P7010 and is just missing a proper socket s-video socket:

I am still trying to decide between the P7010 and T2XP although battery life, BT and s-video out are both important to me.

Fingers crossed that it works. Out of interest (I have posted this request elsewhere too), what displays are shown when you enter the graphics card properties ?

To do this, right click on the desktop and select properties. In display properties, click on the settings tab and click on the Advanced button. A new pop up should appear. Is there a tab called displays? Or a tab which has a picture of a monitor, laptop screen and TV? This would be another clue that the T series has some form of built in tv support? I guess it will not have the TV displayed as there is no TV specific port.

There is a tab called intel (R) Extreme Graphics 2 for mobile. There I can click on Graphics Properties but all I see is a picture of a notebook that is checked. I noticed there is an option for full screen which I checked, wonder what difference that will make. Hope more options will open once I attach the TV via cable? Who knows. I also see tabs entitles Schemes, Devices, Color, OpenGL. Oops-lunchtime! Also there are options for OUTPUT DEVICE which are CURRENT DEVICE and NOTEBOOK. Neither one of those options are checked right now.

Mmm not what I was expecting and perhaps wonder if this cable will infact work :(. We could do with an owner of the P7010 providing info on what their adapter properties contains so we can compare.

Oh well, losing $12.99 is certainly not the worst that could happen; that includes shipping. We’ll see. Besides, it may come in handy with a different laptop or desktop.

You can find it cheaper online (30$ U.S.), but it seems to do exactly what you are hoping the ebay item does and looks much nicer.  I will have to assume it works with the T as I have never tried it.  Perhaps it relys on changing an outgoing VGA signal.

Not sure this item is available in the UK and still needs power from a spare USB socket. The cable on ebay will hopefully convert directly…...bit of a gamble but it will be excellent if it works.

It5 seems Grantec used to carry them but if you follow the links you will see Grantec has apparently dropped it for a box like converter, much less appealing and bulky looking. I had my eye on that one to but suddenly Graqntec seemed to switch it for the box if I am not mistaken.
