Hey guys,
Have a question for you. I burned a movie on my DVD+DL disk (used folders Video_TS and Audio_TS), but my Sony DVD player for some reason was not able to play it. It plays well regular 4.8 Gig DVD+-R/W disks, but not DVD+DL. I also tried playing it on my Panasonic DVD recorder and again to no avail. My VAIOs play the movie with no problem.
I read in online forums, that setting the book type to DVD-ROM would correct the problem since most DVD players recognize that bit-setting. But my problem is I cannot figure out what utility I should use to change that setting. My Drag’nDrop CD+DVD 4 edition does not have that option, DVD Decriptor does not mention my drive (Matshita in PCGA-DDRW3).
Any ideas? Thanks!

It’s a fairly new format which might have been released after you bought your DVD player so if that were the case how can it play it?

Even a lot of DVD writers need a firmware upgrade to recognise (and may be even write to it) that format unless they came out that way.

My portable DVD player won’t read them…in fact they won’t read any +R

Yeah, DL discs are not going to be very compatible until more drives support the format. The specification came out well after most DVD drives for consumer products…you’ll have to use them in your computer (assuming it’s the same drive that burned it) for the time being.

Thanks guys for your input. Well, that’s crappy. I’ll see if I can tweak it with DVD-ROM bit setting.
